Sentinel Range
The Sentinel Range is a major mountain range situated northward of Minnesota Glacier and forming the northern half of the Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. The range trends NNW-SSE for about and is 24 to 48 km (15 to 30 mi) wide. Ellsworth Mountains
The Ellsworth Mountains are the highest mountain ranges in Antarctica, forming a long and wide chain of mountains in a north to south configuration on the western margin of the Ronne Ice Shelf in Marie Byrd Land. They are bisected by Minnesota Glacier to form the Sentinel Range to the north and the Heritage Range to the south. Patleyna Glacier
Patleyna Glacier ( bg, ледник Патлейна, lednik Patleyna, ) is the long and wide glacier on the east side of north-central Sentinel Range in Ellsworth Mountains, Antarctica, situated north of the upper course of Ellen Glacier. It is draining the east slopes of Mount Todd and the north slopes of Chepino Saddle, and flowing north-northwestwards to join Embree Glacier southeast of Mount Goldthwait and west of Oreshak Peak. Ellen Glacier
The Ellen Glacier is a glacier in the central Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains of Antarctica. It drains the eastern slopes of Mount Anderson and Long Gables and flows generally southeast for to Barnes Ridge, where it leaves the range and enters the south flowing Rutford Ice Stream. It was first mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1957–59, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for Lieutenant Colonel Cicero J. Ellen of the U.S. Air Force, who was in command of many of the air operations when the South Pole Station was established by air drop in the 1956–57 season. Mount Todd
Mount Todd is a peak rising to 3,600 m at the north extremity of Probuda Ridge in north-central Sentinel Range, Ellsworth Mountains in Antarctica. It surmounts Embree Glacier to the west, Patleyna Glacier to the northeast and Ellen Glacier to the south-southeast. The peak was named in 1984 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) after Edward P. Todd, a physicist for the National Science Foundation from 1963 to 1984, and the director of the Division of Polar Programs of the National Science Foundation (NSF) from 1977 to 1984. Todd also had responsibility for the development of the U.S. Antarctic Research Program.
