Beyond These Shores
Beyond These Shores is a progressive rock album by Iona, released in 1993. ''Beyond These Shores'' is largely based on the story of St. Brendan's voyage. Brendan and a company of monks sailed from Ireland in a leather and wood boat in the sixth century to 'the promised land' which many believe to be America. This time the majority of the recording was at: *The Cutting Rooms, Manchester - (Engineer Nigel Palmer) with only additional work done at *Moles Studio, Bath *St. Anne's Church, Manchester - (recording of the ''Piano'') The recording was remastered for the 2002 release '' The River Flows: Anthology'' and later re-released on Open Sky Records as a standalone album. Joanne Hogg
Joanne Hogg is a Northern Irish musician, best known for her work as the lead singer and songwriter with the Celtic Christian progressive rock and pop band Iona (named after the island Iona). Early life and education Hogg's father is a Presbyterian minister, her mother a nurse; her family also includes three sisters and two brothers. With medicine strong in the family, it was natural for Hogg to become a doctor. Thus, she studied medicine at Queen's University Belfast. In her third year, Hogg was singing at the Christian Artists talent event and was convinced to sing in a school ministry at Youth for Christ in Denmark. Troy Donockley (born 30 May 1964) is an English composer and multi-instrumentalist most known for his playing of Uilleann pipes. Having performed with many artists as a session player, he is most notable as a member of Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish, which he has performed with since 2007 and joined as a full-time member in 2013. Early life and career Donockley was born in Workington, Cumberland; his parents were members of a band called Travelling Country. At the age of 16, Troy joined them, playing at many venues in West Cumbria. His father's record collection was broad and gave his son a love of classical, rock, country as well as traditional music. Terl Bryant is an English musician. His early career saw him working with US singer/songwriter and filmmaker Steve Taylor and later was in the band of Peter Murphy, the lead singer for Bauhaus.
