Beverly Bayne
Beverly Bayne (born Pearl Beverly Bayne or Bain; November 11, 1894 – August 18, 1982) was an American actress who appeared in silent films beginning in 1910 in Chicago, Illinois, where she worked for Essanay Studios. Early life Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Bayne moved to Chicago when she was six. She stayed there for a time, and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, before she settled in Chicago. She was sixteen when by curiosity she happened by the Essanay Studios. She was told she had a ''camera face''. She began working there at a salary of $35/week. It was soon increased to $75 a week ($ today). In a few years the actress was earning $350 weekly. Film career Her first films were ''The Rivals'' and ''The Loan Shark'', both in 1912. She played the feminine lead in the latter. Under contract to Essanay at this time was Gloria Swanson. It is said that Swanson wept because her eyes were blue and not brown as were Bayne's. Elliott Dexter (March 29, 1870 – June 21, 1941) was an American film and stage actor. He started his career in vaudeville and did not move to films until he was 45. He retired from acting in 1925. Biography Dexter was born in Galveston, Texas. He married silent film actress Marie Doro in 1915. However, the union was brief and the couple soon divorced, having had no children. Dexter died in Amityville, New York, aged 71. The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a landmark which consists of 2,813 five-pointed terrazzo-and-brass stars embedded in the sidewalks along 15 blocks of Hollywood Boulevard and three blocks of Vine Street in the Hollywood, Los Angeles, Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. Howard Duff
Howard Green Duff (November 24, 1913July 8, 1990) was an American actor. He started in radio during World War II before appearing in many Hollywood features and television programs from 1947 to 1990. He also directed for television. His career was marked by accusations of disloyalty during the red scare of the 1950s. Early life Duff was born in Charleston, Washington (today a part of Bremerton), in 1913. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle in 1932, where he began acting in school plays after he was cut from the school basketball team. Duff worked locally in Seattle-area theater until entering the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
