Volker Schlöndorff (; born 31 March 1939) is a German film director, screenwriter and producer who has worked in Germany, France and the United States. He was a prominent member of the New German Cinema of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Rudolf Nureyev
Rudolf Khametovich Nureyev (17 March 19386 January 1993) was a Soviet-born ballet dancer and choreographer. Nureyev is widely regarded as the preeminent male ballet dancer of his generation as well as one of the greatest ballet dancers of all time. Nureyev was born on a Trans-Siberian Railway, Trans-Siberian train near Lake Baikal, in Siberia, Soviet Union, to a Tatars, Tatar family. He began his career in Leningrad with the company that in the Soviet era was called the Kirov Ballet (now called by its original name, the Mariinsky Ballet). In 1961 he Eastern Bloc emigration and defection, defected to the West, despite KGB efforts to stop him. Sir Simon Denis Rattle (born 19 January 1955) is a British conductor with German citizenship. He rose to international prominence during the 1980s and 1990s, while music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (1980–1998).
