Beverley A.R.L.F.C.
Beverley A.R.L.F.C. is an English amateur rugby league club based in Beverley, East Riding of Yorkshire. Their first team competes in the National Conference League. History The club was founded in 1883. The club's most notable achievement in its early years was their 7–2 victory against professional side Ebbw Vale in the 1909 Challenge Cup. The club eventually folded in the 1920s but was reformed in 1980. The club competed in the Humberside League before being accepted into the National Conference League (then called the BARLA National League) in 1990. In 1995, they defeated Highfield 27–4 in the Challenge Cup, becoming the first amateur club to knock out a professional side in the competition since their previous victory in 1909. The National Conference League (NCL) comprises the five levels of the British rugby league system at the top end of the amateur pyramid below the professional RFL League 1, League One. It comes under the jurisdiction of the Rugby Football League (RFL). The NCL has promotion and relegation between the National Conference League Premier Division, Premier Division and National Conference League Division Three, Division Three; there is no promotion or relegation between the Conference League South, regional leagues or promotion to RFL League 1, League One without an application to the RFL. Beverley
Beverley is a market town and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. It is located north-west of Hull city centre. At the 2021 census the built-up area of the town had a population of 30,930, and the smaller civil parish had a population of 18,014. It is the county town of the East Riding of Yorkshire. The town was founded in the seventh century by John of Beverley, who established a church in the area. It was originally named ''Inderawuda'', and was part of the Anglian kingdom of Northumbria. The town came under Viking control in the 850s, then became part of the Kingdom of England. Ebbw Vale Rugby League Football Club was a professional rugby league club based in Ebbw Vale, Wales playing in the Welsh League and Northern Union. Based at Eugene Cross Park, Bridge End Field, Ebbw Vale were one of the first professional Welsh teams, and the last to disband in 1912 after the failure of the Welsh League. Ebbw Vale produced seven players who would go on to represent the Wales national rugby league team, and were seen as the only Welsh team of the time who could challenge the Northern League. Liverpool Stanley was a semi-professional rugby league club from Liverpool, England. The Yorkshire Men's League is a summer rugby league competition for amateur teams in Yorkshire. The competition was formed in 2009 as the RLC Yorkshire Premier by splitting the RLC North Premier into two competitions - this and the RLC North West Premier. The league was renamed to its current name following the 2012 restructure of amateur rugby league in Great Britain. BARLA Teams
The British Amateur Rugby League Association (BARLA) is an association for social and recreational rugby league. It works jointly with the Rugby Football League through the RFL Community Board. History BARLA was created on 3 March 1973 at the George Hotel in Huddersfield by a group of clubs believing that the Rugby Football League were not doing enough to support the amateur game. The RFL voted 29–1 against the recognition of BARLA, with Tom Mitchell being the only one to vote in favour.
