Beth Gardner Helfrich
Beth Gardner Helfrich (born January 21, 1981) is a member of the North Carolina General Assembly and a member of the Democratic Party. She represents North Carolina's 98th House district, made up of Davidson, Cornelius, and northern Huntersville in northern Mecklenburg County. Helfrich defeated former Huntersville mayor Melinda Bales in 2024, flipping the seat from Republican control after the previous incumbent, John R. Bradford III, did not run for re-election. Woodlawn School is a private independent school in Mooresville, North Carolina in Iredell County, North Carolina, Iredell County, north of Davidson, North Carolina. Founded in 2002, it has 227 students in grades Pre-K through 12. The Head of School is Holly Honeycutt, who joined Woodlawn's staff in 2015. John R. (born John Richbourg, August 20, 1910 – February 15, 1986) was an American radio disc jockey who attained fame in the 1950s and 1960s for playing rhythm and blues music on Nashville radio station WLAC. He was also a notable record producer and artist manager. Richbourg was arguably the most popular and charismatic of the four announcers at WLAC who showcased popular African-American music in nightly programs from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. (The other three were Gene Nobles, Herman Grizzard, and Bill "Hoss" Allen.)
