Bestway Group Limited is a British Conglomerate (company), conglomerate founded by Anwar Pervez, Sir Anwar Pervez in 1976. The group operates in the United Kingdom and Pakistan, and is currently based in London. The group originally began as Bestway Wholesale. The group would form property firm Palmbest in 1990, and Bestway Cement in 1995. In 2002, the group acquired a minority share in United Bank Limited, United Bank in Pakistan, later becoming its majority shareholder. In 2015, the group founded Well Pharmacy in Britain, and in 2023 acquired a minority stake in the British supermarket chain Sainsbury's. History Bestway Wholesale was established in 1976. Sir Mohammed Anwar Pervez OBE, Hilal-i-Pakistan, HPk (; born 15 March 1935) is a Pakistani-born British billionaire businessman. He is the founder and chairman of Bestway Group. According to the ''Sunday Times Rich List'', in 2020 Pervez's net worth was £3.1 billion, and the richest Pakistan-born Briton in the UK. United Bank Limited (often abbreviated as UBL) is a Pakistani bank headquartered at I.I. Chundrigar Road in Karachi. It is a subsidiary of British multinational conglomerate, Bestway Group. Founded by Agha Hasan Abedi in 1959, UBL saw its first branch open on I.I. Chundrigar Road in November of the same year.
