Best Look Lately
"Best Look Lately" is the third single from Canadian indie rock band Dear Rouge. In a press release, Drew McTaggart remarked about the song: "We all know of our world's endless bombardment of things to better ourselves. We hope to offer a song to people that fights back at this cultural obsession, and at the same time gives you a boost of confidence. We've always found that the people who are most content are the ones we strive to be like, more than someone who is perfect!". Music video The music video for "Best Look Lately" premiered on MTV Canada's website on November 14, 2014. The video is a fast paced time lapse of Danielle sitting and having her makeup or "look" changed several times. Dear Rouge
Dear Rouge are a Juno award-winning Vancouver-based alternative rock band formed in 2012 by Drew and Danielle McTaggart. History Formation and early years Drew and Danielle McTaggart were both touring musicians under separate projects. They met while in their early touring days and began dating before getting married and starting Dear Rouge. The name of the duo is derived from the name of Danielle's home town, Red Deer, Alberta, "dear" being a homophone of deer and "rouge" meaning red in French. Danielle had previously been in a duo called Gaetz Ave, named after a street in Red Deer, and then a solo venture called Elle. Drew was a member of Vancouver indie circuit band Maclean. Howard Redekopp is a Canadian Juno Award-winning record producer, mixer, writer, musician, and recording engineer best known for his work with Tegan and Sara and La Gusana Ciega. Redekopp's production work has received two Grammy Award nominations and one Latin Grammy nomination. I Heard I Had
"I Heard I Had" is the second single from Canadian indie rock band Dear Rouge. The song has been considered the band's breakout hit, climbing to #3 on the Canadian alternative rock chart without any label or release backing it. In a press release, lead singer Danielle McTaggart said "The lyrics of the song are about a person who has 'fires' (corruption, crimes, etc.) all around them, yet do not want to put them out. They know that they will be caught eventually, but enjoy it so much that they do not want to put them out." The band has also said that the song was partly inspired by the TV series ''Breaking Bad''. MTV Canada
MTV was a Canadian English-language discretionary specialty channel formerly owned by Bell Media subsidiary of BCE Inc. with the name and branding used under a licensing agreement with Paramount Global.
