Best Bowler ESPY Award
The Best Bowler ESPY Award has been presented annually since 1995 to the best ten-pin bowler, irrespective of gender, adjudged to be the best in a given calendar year of those contesting the sport professionally in the United States. To date, the award has only been presented to male bowlers. Between 1993 and 2004 the award voting panel comprised variously fans; sportswriters and broadcasters, sports executives, and retired sportspersons, termed collectively ''experts''; and ESPN personalities, but balloting thereafter has been exclusively by fans over the Internet from amongst choices selected by the ESPN Select Nominating Committee. ESPY Award
The ESPY Awards (short for Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards, and often referred to as the ESPYs) is an annual American awards show produced by ESPN since 1993, recognizing individual and team athletic achievement and other sports-related performance during the calendar year preceding a given annual ceremony. From 2015 to 2019, and since 2021, the ceremony has aired live on sister broadcast television network American Broadcasting Company, ABC, while ESPN continues to air them in the form of replays. Because of the ceremony's ESPY Awards#Ceremonies, rescheduling prior to the 2002 iteration thereof, awards presented in 2002 were for achievement and performances during the seventeen-plus previous months. 2020 ESPY Awards
The 2020 ESPY Awards were presented at the 28th annual ESPY Awards show, held on June 21, 2020, and broadcast on television nationwide in the United States on ESPN at 9 PM Eastern/8 PM Central. Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe and Russell Wilson served as hosts. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the event was hosted remotely. Instead of presenting traditional awards for athletic achievement during the event, awards were presented to honor extraordinary acts of activism and humanitarian efforts. Pete Weber (bowler)
Peter David Weber (born August 21, 1962) is an American Ten-pin bowling, bowler in the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA), currently exclusive to their age-group PBA50+ tours (PBA50 and PBA60), and a member of the PBA and United States Bowling Congress, USBC Halls of Fame. Weber was one of the sport's most active players and became known for his maverick, chirpy and rebellious personality. He is also known for being incredibly versatile, with his high backswing and the side rotation he puts on the bowling ball helping him control numerous oil conditions. Weber is featured in the ten-pin bowling sports documentary ''A League of Ordinary Gentlemen''. He has won 37 titles on the PBA Tour (fourth all-time), including ten major championships (tied for second all-time), and another 14 titles (six majors) on the PBA50 Tour. Parker Bohn III
Parker Morse Bohn III (born July 13, 1963) is a left-handed American professional ten-pin bowler. He has been a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) since 1984, and is a member of the PBA and USBC Halls of Fame. Bohn is one of only eight players in PBA history to accumulate at least 30 career PBA Tour titles, currently ranking fifth all-time with 35 (including three majors). He has 11 more titles (two majors) on the PBA50 Tour (formerly PBA Senior Tour). He is a two-time PBA Player of the Year (1999, 2001–02) and has won a PBA50 Player of the Year award (2022). Bohn has also earned 22 PBA Regional Tour titles, 17 PBA50 Regional titles, and two European Bowling Tour (EBT) titles. Mike Aulby
Mike Aulby (born March 25, 1960, in Indianapolis, Indiana) is a left-handed bowler and former member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA). He is one of only five PBA bowlers to win both a Rookie and Player of the Year award. ( Tommy Jones, Chris Barnes, Jason Belmonte and E. J. Tackett are the others.) He is also the first player in history to complete a career "Super Slam", in which a bowler wins all five PBA Tour major tournaments at least once. He has since been joined in this exclusive club by Jason Belmonte. Aulby owns 29 career PBA Tour titles, currently 9th place all-time, with eight major titles among these wins.
