Alfred Bessell-Browne
Brigadier General Alfred Joseph Bessell-Browne (3 September 1877 – 3 August 1947) was an Australian Army colonel and temporary brigadier general in the First World War. He retired as a brigadier general in 1942. Early life and career Alfred Bessell-Browne was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on 3 September 1877, the son of an insurance inspector. The family immigrated to New South Wales where Bessell-Browne attended Camden Grammar. They later moved to Western Australia where he attended Perth High School (now known as Hale School). Bessell-Browne first job was as a clerk in the patents office in 1896. Bessell-Browne enlisted in the Perth Artillery Volunteers held the rank of sergeant in 1899 when he volunteered for South Africa, enlisting in the 1st Western Australian (Mounted Infantry) Contingent as a private. His unit reached Cape Town in November 1899 and took part in the Kimberley Relief Force and operations at Colesberg, Northern Cape, Colesberg, Hoot Neck, Zand River, Kl ...

Peter Bessell
Peter Joseph Bessell (24 August 1921 – 27 November 1985) was a British Liberal Party politician, and Member of Parliament for Bodmin in Cornwall from 1964 to 1970. Early life Peter Bessell was born at a nursing home in Bath, son of tailor Joseph Edgar Bessell and Olive Simons, née Hawkins. His parents divorced in 1926 and Bessell lived with his father. He was educated at Lynwyd School, Bath, and when his father died in 1940, Bessell took over the business. Bessell became a Congregational lay preacher in 1939, remaining so until 1970; on this basis he registered as a conscientious objector during the Second World War. Howard Weston "Ted" Bessell Jr. (March 20, 1935 – October 6, 1996) was an American television actor and director widely known for his role as Donald Hollinger, the boyfriend and eventual fiancé of Marlo Thomas's character in the TV series '' That Girl'' (1966–1971). Early career Born in Flushing, New York, to Howard Weston "Buster" Bessell (1904–1958) and his wife, Jo (1915–2004), Ted Bessell grew up in Manhasset, New York. He was initially preparing for a career as a classical musician. As a 12-year-old child prodigy, he performed a piano recital at Carnegie Hall. Eric Bessell
Eric James Bessell (6 June 1923 – 10 March 1979) was an Australian politician. Born in Launceston, Tasmania, he was a pastoralist before serving in the Australian Army as a private during World War II. He served as President of the Tasmanian Liberal Party in 1966 and 1973. In 1974, he was elected to the Australian Senate The Senate is the upper house of the Bicameralism, bicameral Parliament of Australia, the lower house being the Australian House of Representatives, House of Representatives.
