Bertram Schäfer
Bertram Schäfer (born 18 March 1946, in Bitburg) is a German racing driver. He won the German Formula Three Championship The German Formula Three Championship was the national Formula Three championship of Germany, and the former West Germany, from 1950 to 2002, then as Formel 3 until 2014. In 2003, the series had merged with the French Formula Three Championship ... in 1976 and 1978. He also raced at the Norisring for one round of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup in 2010. Bertram Schafer became the owner of Bertram Schäfer Racing, a successful European F3 Championship team. In 2002, he was one of the judges at Red Bull Junior Team, Red Bull’s Formula One Driver Search program. References External links Official website

Bitburg (; ; ) is a city in Germany, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate approximately 25 km (16 mi.) northwest of Trier and 50 km (31 mi.) northeast of Luxembourg (city), Luxembourg city. The American Spangdahlem Air Base is nearby. History The city's name derives from its Celts, Celtic toponymy, toponym, ''Beda''. Bitburg originated approximately 2,000 years ago as a stopover for traffic from Lyon through Metz and Trier to Cologne. The first name mentioned was ''Vicus Beda''. Emperor Constantine the Great expanded the settlement to a road castle around 330, the central part of which forms the town centre today. Bitburg is first documented only after the end of the Ancient Rome, Roman Empire around 715 as ''castrum bedense''. It subsequently became part of Franconia.
