Da Coconut Nut
"Da Coconut Nut" is a song composed by Filipino national artist Ryan Cayabyab for the band Smokey Mountain in 1991. Composition The song's lyrics describe the uses of the different parts of a coconut tree. Cayabyab, in an interview with ABS-CBN, said that the song was composed in the novelty style popularized by Yoyoy Villame, whom at times the song was incorrectly attributed to. The song borrows some melodies from Guy Lombardo's 1944 recording of " It's Love-Love-Love". Performance The song became part of the concert programs of choirs in United States after a deal in July 2008 allowed its publication in the choral arrangement in Randy Stenson's Santa Barbara Music Publishing of California catalogue and performed in the American Choral Directors National Convention. Stenson first heard the song performed by a Hawaiian choir. Cayabyab claimed that the song became popular among American choirs ever since. Mongolian Barbecue
Mongolian barbecue () is a method of preparing stir-fried noodle dishes. Despite its name, the dish is not Mongolian, nor was it influenced by Mongolian cuisine. It was developed in Taiwan by a waishengren during the 1950s. Furthermore, it is also unrelated to actual barbecue traditions (such as American or Korean barbecue), since it is not cooked on a perforated grill above the smoke of an open flame, but rather a specialized flatiron grill. The kind of grill used to cook it is in the shape of a circle, and an upside-down wok was, in 1979, used to cook the dish in Taiwanese establishments. It has more in common with Teppanyaki. Origin Mongolian barbecue was created by Taiwanese comedian and restaurateur Wu Zhaonan, who fled to Taiwan after the outbreak of the Chinese Civil War, and opened a street food stall in , Downtown Taipei in 1951. While he initially wished to name the dish "Peking barbecue" after his hometown, due to political sensitivity associated with the city which ...
