Bertilo Wennergren
Bertilo Wennergren (; ; born 4 October 1956) is a Swedish Esperantist living in the village of Schossin in northern Germany. Biography Having spoken Esperanto since 1980, he became a member of the Esperanto Academy in 2001 and holds the post of director of the Academy's General Dictionary section. He is author of the books ''Plena Manlibro de Esperanta Gramatiko'' (Complete Manual of Esperanto Grammar) and ''Landoj kaj lingvoj de la mondo'' (Lands and Languages of the World). He is also the author of a Swedish-language book to teach Esperanto. Wennergren was a member of the Amplifiki band, and is now a member of Persone. In 2002 he married the Esperantist Birke Dockhorn. On 19 December 2006 the journal '' La Ondo de Esperanto'' named him as Esperantist of the Year for 2006 in recognition of his ''Plena Manlibro de Esperanta Gramatiko''. The Esperanto Wikipedia (, or ) is the Esperanto version of Wikipedia, which was started on 11 May 2001, alongside the Basque Wikipedia. With articles as of , it is the - largest Wikipedia as measured by the number of articles, and the largest Wikipedia in a constructed language. Origin and influence of the Esperanto Wikipedia Chuck Smith, an American Esperantist, is considered to be the Esperanto Wikipedia's founder. The encyclopedia started off when he imported the 139 articles of the by Stefano Kalb, which took him three weeks following 15 November 2001. Later on, he undertook a journey to Europe with the goal of popularizing Wikipedia among the speakers of Esperanto in European countries. Toki Pona (; , , translated as 'the language of good') is a philosophical, artistic, constructed language designed for its small vocabulary, simplicity, and ease of acquisition. It was created by Canadian linguist and hyperpolyglot Sonja Lang to simplify her thoughts and communication. The first drafts were published online in 2001, while the complete form was published in the 2014 book ''Toki Pona: The Language of Good'' (referred to as in Toki Pona). Lang also released a supplementary dictionary, the ''Toki Pona Dictionary'' (referred to as ), in July 2021, describing the language as used by its community of speakers. In 2024, a third book was released, a Toki Pona adaptation of ''The Wonderful Wizard of Oz'', written in Sitelen Pona. Gerrit Berveling (born 1 April 1944, Vlaardingen) is a Dutch Esperanto author. Biography He studied Classical Languages (Latin and Greek) at Leiden University, and Theology at Utrecht and Leiden Universities. After 14 years of teaching general history and classical languages, he worked 14 years as a Remonstrant minister in different liberal Christian communities, and now is teaching classical languages again. In Esperanto he is known as an original Esperanto poet, but mostly as a translator from Latin, Greek and Dutch. Academy Of Esperanto
The Akademio de Esperanto (AdE; ) is an independent body of Esperanto speakers who steward the evolution of said language by keeping it consistent with the '' Fundamento de Esperanto'' in accordance with the Declaration of Boulogne. Modeled somewhat after the Académie française and the Real Academia Española, the Akademio was proposed by L. L. Zamenhof, the creator of Esperanto, at the first World Esperanto Congress, and was founded soon thereafter under the name ''Lingva Komitato'' (Language Committee). This Committee had a "superior commission" called the ''Akademio''. In 1948, within the framework of a general reorganization, the Language Committee and the Academy combined to form the Akademio de Esperanto.
