Bertie Murphy
Bartholomew Murphy (17 February 1909 - 6 May 1999) was an Irish hurler and Gaelic footballer. He lined out with club sides Sarsfields and Glanmire, and at the inter-county level with Cork. Murphy also served as an administrator and selector. Playing career Murphy first played Gaelic games as a schoolboy and won his first medal with Glounthaune NS in a school's league in 1923. He progressed to adult level with the Glanmire- Sarsfields Gaelic football and hurling clubs and won six East Cork JFC titles in a nine-year period before winning a Cork JFC title in 1937. Murphy also won a Kelleher Shield with Glanmire in 1940. Murphy first appeared on the inter-county scene with Cork as a member of the junior team. He won a Munster JHC medal in 1929. Murphy later played alongside his brothers Tom and Jim with the senior team and made a number of appearances in tournament and challenge games. Glanmire GFC
Glanmire GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Glanmire in Cork, Ireland. Its Gaelic Football team participates in competitions organized by Cork GAA, and is a member of Imokilly division. The club does not play hurling as it is closely affiliated with Sarsfields which is a separate hurling club in the area. All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year except one since 1887. The final, currently held on the third Sunday in August, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Liam MacCarthy Cup. The 1973 All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship was the 10th staging of the All-Ireland Under-21 Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1964. Galway were the defending champions, however, they were defeated by Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final. Tadhg Óg Murphy
Tadhg Óg Murphy (born 6 January 1986) is an Irish hurling coach and former player. At club level he played with Sarsfields and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Playing career Murphy first played at juvenile and underage levels with the Sarsfields club. He later played as a schoolboy with Coláiste an Phiarsaigh before attending University College Cork (UCC). Murphy was part of the UCC team that beat University of Limerick to win the Fitzgibbon Cup in 2009. After progressing from the underage grades, Murphy first played at adult club level with the Sarsfields junior team in 2004. He won an East Cork JAHC medal that year before later being promoted to the club's senior team. Murphy was part of the Sarsfields team that contested seven Cork SHC finals in eight seasons between 2008 and 2015. Tadhg Murphy (dual Player)
Tadhg Murphy (born 2 November 1956) is an Irish former hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with Glanmire, Sarsfields and Imokilly and was a member of the Cork senior teams as a dual player. Murphy is best remembered for scoring a last-minute goal to deny Kerry a record ninth successive title in the 1983 Munster final. Early life Born and raised in Glanmire, County Cork, Murphy first played as a schoolboy in various juvenile competitions before later lining out as a student at St Finbarr's College in Cork. He was a member of the St. Finbarr's team that won three successive Harty Cup titles from 1972 to 1974. Murphy also won All-Ireland titles with the college in 1972 and as team captain in 1974.
