Bernie Naylor Medal
The Bernie Naylor Medal is an Australian rules football award which is given to the leading goalkicker at the end of each home and away season in the West Australian Football League. It is named after South Fremantle full-forward Bernie Naylor. Before the Bernie Naylor Medal was first awarded in 1996, there was no physical award given to the competition's leading goalkicker, although there had been proposals for such a trophy to be instituted. As of 2025, the WAFL announced any player that were leading goalkickers from seasons 1955 to 1995 would be recognised as Bernie Naylor Medalists retrospectively. Australian Rules Football
Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an Australian rules football playing field, oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the Football (ball)#Australian rules football, oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). Rod Tregenza
Rodney Donald "Rod" Tregenza (born 16 January 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer. Originally playing for the South Mandurah Football Club in the Peel Football League (PFL), Tregenza was a member of 's squad for their first season in the West Australian Football League (WAFL), and later also played for , winning the Bernie Naylor Medal as the leading goalkicker in the competition in 1999 and 2000. He was recruited by the in the Australian Football League (AFL) in the 2001 Rookie draft, but did not play a game for the club, subsequently signing with the South Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Warren Ralph
Warren James Ralph (born 25 February 1959) is a former Australian rules footballer who played during the 1980s with great success as a full-forward for Claremont in the WAFL and with lesser success in the VFL and SANFL. Ralph began his career at Floreat Park in the WA Amateur Football League. He then played two seasons in the country with Dalwallinu before returning to Floreat, where he also had a considerable reputation in the local cricket competition as a fast bowler before dedicating himself solely to football in 1979. He debuted for Claremont's league team in 1980 and showed himself to be an extremely potent full-forward in dry conditions: against Perth and Subiaco he kicked totals of 11.6 (72). His performance for the Tigers in wet conditions, against South Fremantle and East Fremantle, suggested that Ralph had limitations. Brent Hutton
Brent Hutton (born 15 April 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the West Coast Eagles in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Swan Districts in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). A local from Bassendean, Hutton had his breakthrough season for Swan Districts in 1984 when he was used as a full-forward and kicked 83 goals to win the league's goal-kicking award. Michael Desmond Rea (born 10 December 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Recruited from Edithvale-Aspendale, Rea made three appearances with Melbourne late in the 1978 VFL season, all of which they lost. He wasn't kept on Melbourne's list the following year and joined Perth, with whom he would be a prolific forward until 1988, except for a brief stint with Mines Rovers in Collie during the 1984 season. Todd George Breman (born 28 October 1965 in Subiaco, Western Australia) is a former cricketer and Australian rules footballer. Cricket career Breman debuted for Western Australia during the 1985–1986 season as a medium pace bowler. He played 10 first-class matches and five List A matches over three seasons. Glen Bartlett (born 6 October 1964) is a former chairman of the Melbourne Football Club and Australian rules footballer for the West Coast Eagles in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and East Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). John Hutton (born 28 May 1966) is a former Australian rules football player in the Australian Football League with the Brisbane Bears, Sydney Swans and the Fremantle Football Club. Taken as #1 pick by Brisbane in the 1991 AFL Draft from the Claremont Football Club in Western Australia, Hutton was touted as being a highly talented full-forward prospect fresh from having completed a West Australian Football League where he won the Bernie Naylor Medal as the league's leading goalkicker with 100 goals. Craig Edwards (Australian Footballer)
Craig Edwards (born 25 April 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for East Perth and South Fremantle in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Edwards won the 1989 Sandover Medal as the best player in the competition and was named as one of the top 25 WAFL players of the 25 years from 1987 to 2012. Career Edwards was born in Mount Lawley, Western Australia and grew up in Bayswater. He attended Hillcrest Primary School and John Forrest Secondary College.
