Bernie Finkelstein
Bernard Finkelstein (born August 12, 1944 in Toronto) is a Canadian music executive and talent manager.McPherson, David, "Bernie Finkelstein's Golden Mountain", ''Words and Music'', Fall 2012 Finkelstein began his career in music as the manager of The Paupers from 1966 to 1967 and Kensington Market from 1967 to 1969. In 1969, Finkelstein founded True North Records. The first artist signed to the label in 1969 was Bruce Cockburn. Through 1972–1981, in partnership with Bernie Fiedler, he managed the careers of Ronney Abramson, Bruce Cockburn, Murray McLauchlan and Dan Hill. In 1970, he and Cockburn became partners in the music publishing firm Golden Mountain Music. Kensington Market, aka 'The Market', was a Toronto-based rock band, active from 1967 to 1969. Named after a downtown Toronto neighbourhood, it was known for 'gentle, lyrical, rock music', masterful musicianship, and for being was one of the first Canadian rock bands to develop a style independent of US and British models. Blackie and the Rodeo Kings are a Canadian folk rock–alternative country band with blues and country influences. Lighthouse is a Canadian rock band formed in 1968 in Toronto, Ontario, whose repertoire included elements of rock music, jazz, classical music, and swing and featured horns, string instruments, and vibraphone. Moxy Früvous was a Canadian politically satirical folk-pop band from Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. The band was founded in 1989, and was active until 2001. Catherine MacLellan
Catherine MacLellan is a Canadian folk singer-songwriter, based in Prince Edward Island. Early life The daughter of Canadian songwriter Gene MacLellan, MacLellan was born in Burlington, Ontario but raised in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Before beginning her solo recording career, she sang with The New Drifts, a four-piece band featuring Island musicians James Phillips (guitar, mandolin), Stéphane Bouchard (bass) and Dave Gould (drums & percussion). Cowboy Junkies are an alternative country and folk rock band formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1985 by Alan Anton (bassist), Michael Timmins (songwriter, guitarist), Peter Timmins (drummer) and Margo Timmins (vocalist). The three Timminses are siblings, and Anton worked with Michael Timmins during their first couple of bands.
