Bernburg
Bernburg (Saale) () is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, capital of the Salzlandkreis district. The former residence of the Anhalt-Bernburg princes is known for its Renaissance castle. Geography The town centre is situated in the fertile Magdeburg Börde lowland on the Saale river, approx. downstream from Halle and up stream from Magdeburg. It is dominated by the huge Bernburg Castle featuring a museum as well as a popular, recently updated bear pit in its moat. Anhalt-Bernburg
Anhalt-Bernburg was a Princes of the Holy Roman Empire, principality of the Holy Roman Empire and a duchy of the German Confederation ruled by the House of Ascania with its residence at Bernburg in present-day Saxony-Anhalt. It emerged as a subdivision from the Principality of Anhalt from 1252 until 1468, when it fell to the Ascanian principality of Anhalt-Dessau. Wohlsdorf is an ''Ortschaft'' (municipal division) of the town of Bernburg in Salzlandkreis, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. History Wohlsdorf was first mentioned as a village east of Bernburg in 986. Funnelbeaker Culture
The Funnel(-neck-)beaker culture, in short TRB or TBK (, ; ; ), was an archaeological culture in north-central Europe. It developed as a technological merger of local neolithic and mesolithic techno-complexes between the lower Elbe and middle Vistula rivers. These predecessors were the (Danubian culture, Danubian) Lengyel culture, Lengyel-influenced Stroke-ornamented ware culture (STK) groups/Late Lengyel and Baden culture, Baden-Boleráz in the southeast, Rössen culture, Rössen groups in the southwest and the Ertebølle culture, Ertebølle-Ellerbek groups in the north. Trematosaurus
''Trematosaurus'' is an extinct genus of trematosaurid temnospondyl amphibian found in Germany and Russia. It was first named by Hermann Burmeister in 1849 and the type species is ''Trematosaurus brauni''. History of study ''Trematosaurus'' was one of the first temnospondyls to be described. The type locality, called Merkel's Quarry, is in east-central Germany at Bernburg an der Saale within the Bausandstein (Olenekian) and was collected for several decades from the 1840s into the early 20th century, producing extensive cranial remains, although the majority of these are preserved as internal molds (steinkerns) or natural molds. The name ''Trematosaurus'' was in fact coined in 1842 by Carl von Braun, a frequent collector who used the Greek suffix ''trema'' ('hole') in reference to the pineal foramen to form the generic epithet, but as he provided no formal description, the name was not considered valid until the work of Burmeister, who named the type species after Braun.
