Bernardo Yorba
Bernardo Yorba (August 20, 1800 – November 28, 1858) was a prominent Californio landowner, Rancheros, ranchero, politician, and public figure. He was one of the wealthiest men in early 19th-century California. Yorba also served as alcalde (mayor) of Santa Ana, California, Santa Ana. The city of Yorba Linda, California, Yorba Linda is named after him. Born to José Antonio Yorba, a member of the Portolà expedition, Yorba was one of California's largest landowners and most successful ranchers, with thousands of cattle and horses grazing on land grants totaling more than 35,000 acres. Rancho La Sierra (Yorba)
Rancho La Sierra (also called La Sierra de Santa Ana) was a Mexican land grant in present-day Riverside County, California, United States. In 1846 governor Pio Pico issued the grant to Bernardo Yorba. The grant lay between Rancho Jurupa and Rancho El Rincon, and included the present-day city of Corona. History Bernardo Yorba's father, José Antonio Yorba, was the grantee of Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana in present-day Orange County. Yorba Cemetery
Yorba Cemetery is a historic cemetery in Yorba Linda, California, originally part of Bernardo Yorba's Rancho Cañón de Santa Ana. It was deeded to the County of Orange in 1967. In 1858, the 40,000 square-foot plot of land was willed to the Catholic Church by Bernardo Yorba, as a burial ground to serve Yorba's family and friends. The last official burial occurred in 1939. Yorba Hacienda
The Yorba Hacienda was a domestic dwelling constructed by Bernardo Yorba on the Rancho Cañón de Santa Ana Mexican land grant, and located in the present city of Yorba Linda, California. It was notable as the seat of the wealthiest member of the Yorba family and as the largest adobe hacienda in Alta California. Rancho Cañón de Santa Ana was a Ranchos of California, land grant in present-day Orange County, California, given by Mexican governor José Figueroa in 1834 to Bernardo Yorba. Olive, California
Olive is an unincorporated parcel of about entirely surrounded by the city of Orange, located along Lincoln Avenue, between Eisenhower Park and Orange Olive Road. Leonardo Cota
Leonardo Cota (1816–1887) was a Captain with the Californios in the Mexican–American War; and later a Los Angeles County Supervisor. Leonardo Cota (1816–1887) was born during the Mexican War of Independence in Mexico, the son of Guillermo Cota. Leonardo Cota married Maria Rosa Yorba, daughter of ''Californio'' Rancho Cañón de Santa Ana owner Bernardo Yorba. At the time of the Placerita Canyon gold discovery of 1842, Cota was a clerk-registrar at Pueblo de Los Angeles, under the services of his cousin, Governor Pio Pico, who would be known as the last governor of Alta California under Mexican rule. Samuel Kraemer
Samuel Kraemer (1857–1937) was a rancher, farmer, and businessman who is credited with much of the development of Anaheim, California during the 1920s. Kraemer was born July 9, 1857, in Illinois, the son of Elenora Schrag and Daniel Kraemer. His father moved the family to Orange County, California, Orange County in 1867, becoming the first English-speaking settlers in Placentia, California. He married Angelina Yorba, the last of the "grand" Yorbas descending from Jose Antonio Yorba, in 1886, joining parts of the old Yorba lands to his own tracts. He eventually would inherit a piece of his father's sizable land holdings too. When Union Oil Company discovered oil on his property around 1919, Kraemer became one of the richest men in Southern California.
