Bernardo Menéndez Galán (20 February 1889 – unknown) was a Spanish Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football), defender for Real Madrid CF, Real Madrid in the mid-1910s. He later worked as a Referee (association football), referee, being a co-founder of College of Referees of the Center, the first College of Referees of the Center, College of Referees in Spain. Playing career Bernardo Menéndez was born in Avilés, Asturias, but it was in Madrid where he began his football career, joining the ranks of Real Madrid in 1907, and making his debut with the first team in a Exhibition game, friendly match against Club Español de Madrid, Español de Madrid on 15 December 1907, which ended in a 2–2 draw. Avilés
Avilés (Asturian and ;) is a town in Asturias, Spain. Avilés is, along with Oviedo and Gijón, one of the main cities in the Principality of Asturias. José María Peña
Anacleto José María Peña Salegui (9 April 1895 – 13 January 1989) was a Spanish professional football player and manager. Born in Las Arenas, he started playing football as a midfielder at Arenas Club de Getxo in 1913; teammates included his elder brother Florencio. There he won the Biscay Championship four times and the Copa del Rey in 1919, as well as finishing as a losing finalist 1917 and 1925. In 1926 he moved to Madrid and signed with Real Madrid CF, playing for the club for six years until 1932 and winning four Centre regional championships (also collecting two more runners-up medals from the 1929 and 1930 Copa finals). The team claimed their first La Liga title in 1931–32 but Peña, aged 36 by its conclusion, made only four appearances and it is unclear if he is considered to have won this honour. Pedro Parages Diego-Madrazo (17 December 1883 – 15 February 1950) was a Franco-Spanish footballer, manager, and the 5th President of Real Madrid from July 1916 until 16 May 1926. During his mandate, Madrid FC received the Royal title (''Real'') from the hands of the King Alfonso XIII. He played as a forward for Association Sportive Amicale before joining Madrid FC (now Real Madrid) in 1902. Parages was thus the first French player to represent ''Los Merengues''.
