Berlin Old Nordbahnhof
The old Berlin Nordbahnhof was freight and (for a short period) passenger Train station, railway terminus in Berlin, Germany. It was situated in Prenzlauer Berg, close to the borders with Gesundbrunnen (Berlin), Gesundbrunnen, in the area of the "Mauerpark". Geography The station was located at the junction point of Eberswalder Straße with Bernauer Straße, close to the "Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Sportpark". The sportpark's Berlin tram, tramway stop (line M10) serves the area. History Berlin Nordbahnhof opened on 10 July 1877 as the southern terminus of the Berlin Northern Railway Berlin-Stralsund. The passenger traffic was handled by the nearby ''Berlin Nordbahnhof, Stettiner Bahnhof'', located at the western end at Bernauer Straße. Berlin Nordbahnhof () is a railway station in the Mitte (locality), Mitte district of Berlin, Germany. It is served by the Berlin S-Bahn and local bus and tram lines. Until 1950, the station was known as Stettiner Bahnhof. History First station In 1842, the ''Stettiner Bahnhof'' opened as the terminus of Berlin-Szczecin railway, the railway line to the capital of the state of Pomerania, Stettin ( (since 1945 a part of Poland). The terminus was built on the previous site of the gallows field on the Invalidenstraße, at some distance from the Hamburg Gate in the Berlin Customs Wall. Initially mainly intended to connect Berlin to Stettin's sea port, the line later also became important for reaching the holiday resorts on the Baltic Sea (so-called ''Pomerania Riviera'' or more colloquial ''Berliners' bath tub''). Pankow
Pankow () is the second largest and most populous Boroughs and quarters of Berlin, borough of the German capital Berlin. In Berlin's 2001 administrative reform, it was merged with the former boroughs of Prenzlauer Berg and Weissensee (Berlin), Weißensee; the resulting borough retained the name Pankow. Berlin Schönhauser Allee is a railway station in the Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin. Berlin Ringbahn
The Ringbahn (German for circle railway) is a long circle route around Berlin's inner city area, on the Berlin S-Bahn network. Its course is made up of a pair of tracks used by S-Bahn trains and another parallel pair of tracks used by various regional, long distance and freight trains. The S-Bahn lines S41 and S42 provide a closed-loop continuous service without termini. Lines S45, S46 and S47 use a section of the southern and western ring, while lines S8 and S85 use sections of the eastern ring. The combined number of passengers is about 400,000 passengers a day. Due to its distinctive shape, the line is often referred to as the ''Hundekopf'' (Dog's Head). The Berlin Wall (, ) was a guarded concrete Separation barrier, barrier that encircled West Berlin from 1961 to 1989, separating it from East Berlin and the East Germany, German Democratic Republic (GDR; East Germany).
