Berlin Northern Railway
The Berlin Northern Railway () is a 223-kilometre-long main line (railway), main line route, that runs from Berlin via Neustrelitz and Neubrandenburg to Stralsund on the Baltic Sea coast. Nowadays, long-distance and regional traffic on the Nordbahn is routed at Hohen Neuendorf onto the Berlin Outer Ring to the Karower Kreuz and on to Berlin Main Station or Berlin-Lichtenberg. History Construction of the line was preceded by decades of planning from 1843 until 1870 when the newly founded ''Berlin Northern Railway Company'' (German language, German: ''Berliner Nord-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft'') gained the concessions from the states of Prussia and Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Tollense
The Tollense (, from Slavic ''dolenica'' "lowland, (flat) valley") is a river in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in northeastern Germany, right tributary of the Peene. It has a total length of 95.8 km. The upper course begins near a small lake named ''Mürzsee'', near the village of Blumenholz. A part of it is traditionally called Ziemenbach, flowing to lake Lieps. From this lake to Lake Tollense (''Tollensesee'') it is nowadays called ''Liepskanal''. The section from Lake Tollense to the junction with the Peene river near Demmin has a length of 68 km. At this junction, the discharge and basin of Tollense is larger than the discharge and upstream basin of Peene river. The first kilometer of the outflow in Neubrandenburg is called ''Oberbach''. Demmin Station
Demmin () is a town in the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in north-eastern Germany. It was the capital of the former district of Demmin. Geography Demmin lies on the West Pomeranian plain at the confluence of the rivers Peene, Tollense and Trebel. Lake Kummerow and the Szczecin Lagoon may be reached by boat on the Peene, Neubrandenburg via Altentreptow on by-roads and cycleways. The area of the confluences of the Tollense and Trebel with the Peene are called the Three Streams Land (''Dreistromland'') for tourist purposes and borrowing from the ancient land of Zweistromland. Peene
The Peene (; ) is a river in Germany. Geography The Westpeene, with the Ostpeene as its longer tributary, and the Kleine Peene/Teterower Peene (with a ''Peene '' without specification (or ''Nordpeene'') as its smaller and shorter affluent) flows into Kummerower See (Lake Kummerow), and from there as Peene proper to Anklam and into the Oder Lagoon. The western branch of the Oder River, which separates the island of Usedom from the German mainland, is often also called Peene, but actually is considered a part of the Baltic Sea called the Peenestrom. Bundesautobahn 20
is an autobahn in Germany. The western part was initially planned as Bundesautobahn 22. It is colloquially known as Ostseeautobahn ("Baltic Freeway") or Küstenautobahn ("Coastal Freeway") due to its geographic location near the Baltic Sea coastline. The road is not built along a straight line, instead it is built near important cities (Wismar, Rostock, Stralsund), to make it more beneficial for travel between these cities, and also to serve as bypass. On 25 June 2010 the land counsel of Lower Saxony decided that the A22 will be renamed to A20 to show it is a lengthening of the Ostsee- or Küstenautobahn.
