Berliet TR
The Berliet GR (rigid truck) and TR (tractor truck) was a family of heavy trucks manufactured by Berliet in two generations; the original design was first introduced in 1961 (GRK10, using the 1957 ''Relaxe'' cabin design) and the second generation, using the all-new square KB 2400 cabin, was introduced at the 1970 Paris Salon. The Berliet (and Saviem) brands were retired in April 1980; the GR/TR was replaced by a facelifted version of the KB 2400 cab called the Renault R-series. Design Berliet offered a range of straight-six diesel engines in the various models, with a 14.9-litre V8 added on the second generation. The initial models received model numbers indicating the displacement in litres, such as TR10 or GR12. Berliet was a French manufacturer of automobiles, buses, trucks and military vehicles among other vehicles based in Vénissieux, outside of Lyon, France. Founded in 1899, and apart from a five-year period from 1944 to 1949 when it was put into 'administration sequestre' it was in private ownership until 1967 when it then became part of Citroën, and subsequently acquired by Renault in 1974 and merged with Saviem into a new Renault Trucks company in 1978. The Berliet marque was phased out by 1980. Early history started his experiments with automobiles in 1894. Some single-cylinder cars were followed in 1900 by a twin-cylinder model. In 1902, Berliet took over the plant of Audibert & Lavirotte in Lyon. Berliet started to build four-cylinder automobiles featuring a Radiator (engine cooling)#Radiator construction, honeycomb radiator, and a steel chassis frame was used instead of wood. Renault Trucks was a French commercial truck manufacturer with corporate headquarters at Saint-Priest near Lyon. Originally part of Renault, it was a subsidiary of Volvo since 2001. In July 2024, John Cockerill (company) completed the takeover of the corporation, then named Arquus. Volvo Globetrotter
Volvo F10, F12, and F16 are a series of trucks manufactured by Volvo Trucks between 1977 and 1993. Volvo manufactured about 200,000 trucks in this series between 1977 and 1993. F10 and F12 Introduced in 1977 as a replacement to the F88/89 which were the flagship tractors of the company. The new names were given based on the engine capacity of the units F10 for the 10 litres engine unit F12 for the 12 litres unit, although the F10 had a 9.6 litres engine and F12 had 12 litres. Powered by TD100 and TD120 engines, they produced 280 and 320hp, respectively. F10 and F12 provided more comfort, power, style and safety compared to the outgoing F88/89. In October 1973, the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) announced that it was implementing a total oil embargo against countries that had supported Israel at any point during the 1973 Yom Kippur War, which began after Egypt and Syria launched a large-scale surprise attack in an ultimately unsuccessful attempt to recover the territories that they had lost to Israel during the 1967 Six-Day War. In an effort that was led by Faisal of Saudi Arabia, the initial countries that OAPEC targeted were Canada, Japan, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and the United States. This list was later expanded to include Estado Novo (Portugal), Portugal, Rhodesia, and South Africa. Cab-over, also known as cab over engine (COE), cab forward or flat face (U.S.), flat nose (Canada), or forward control (UK), is a body style of truck, bus, or van that has a vertical front, "flat face" or a semi-hood, with the cab of the truck sitting above (or forward of) the front axle. This contrasts with a conventional truck where the engine is mounted in front of the driver. This truck configuration is currently common among European and Asian truck manufacturers.
