Benjamin Thomsen
Benjamin Thomsen (born August 25, 1987), also known as Ben Thomsen, is a FIS Alpine Ski World Cup, World Cup Alpine skiing, alpine ski racer from Canada. Born in Invermere, British Columbia, Invermere, British Columbia, he primarily competes in the speed events of Downhill (ski competition), Downhill and Super Giant Slalom skiing, Super G. Thomsen's father Glenn is a former national team coach for Alpine Canada. 2011–12 FIS Alpine Ski World Cup
The 46th World Cup season began on 22 October 2011, in Sölden, Austria, and concluded on 18 March 2012, at the World Cup finals in Schladming, Austria. Two pre-Olympic races took place at Rosa Khutor, the alpine venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Two city events, first held as a part of World Cup in the 2011 season, were scheduled for Munich and Moscow, but the Munich event was cancelled due to warm temperatures. Lindsey Vonn won her fourth overall women's title in five years, clinching it with a giant slalom win on 9 March at Åre, Sweden. Vonn's title put her second on the all-time list behind Annemarie Moser-Pröll's tally of six titles. Kvitfjell
Kvitfjell ( no, White mountain) is a ski resort in Norway, located in the municipality of Ringebu. Developed for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, it is one of the most modern resorts in the world, with snowmaking on 80% of the alpine pistes. Based near the river Gudbrandsdalslågen, the resort offers 23 pistes: 5 green (nursery), 9 blue (beginner), 6 red (intermediate), and 3 black (advanced). Kvitfjell is also home to a terrain park and of cross-country pistes, with access to extra in Skei and Gålå. Chamonix
Chamonix-Mont-Blanc ( frp, Chamôni), more commonly known as Chamonix, is a commune in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southeastern France. The inaugural season launched in January 1967, and the season marks the 53rd consecutive year for the FIS World Cup.
