Benjamin T. Pitts
Benjamin Thomas Pitts (died July 21, 1964) was an American politician and movie theater owner from Virginia. He served in the Virginia Senate and ran a chain of movie theaters in Virginia and West Virginia, including theaters in Fredericksburg, Culpeper and Richmond. Early life Benjamin Thomas Pitts was born in Fredericksburg, Virginia. His mother's name was Victoria. His parents moved to the country for a time and then his family returned to Fredericksburg when he was eight. He attended public schools in Fredericksburg. His first job was working for plumber George W. Heflin. He also sold newspapers and worked at the grocery store. Career Pitts started in the movie theater business by running shows at the Opera House in Fredericksburg by renting the building for a night. In 1914, Pitts opened a movie theater on Main Street in downtown Fredericksburg called The Leader with a capacity of 600 seats. Virginia's 26th Senate District
Virginia's 26th Senate district is one of 40 districts in the Senate of Virginia. It is currently represented by Ryan McDougle, Ryan T. McDougle, who had represented the Virginia's 4th Senate district, 4th District since 2006. Before the district moved, it was represented by Republican Party (United States), Republican Mark Obenshain from 2004 to 2024, succeeding fellow Republican Kevin Miller. Geography The Supreme Court of Virginia, Virginia Supreme Court approved the current district map in December of 2021, following the 2020 United States census, 2020 Census, and the changes took effect for the 2023 elections. The new map reassigned the numerical indices of the Senate districts in such a way that District 26 was effectively relocated.
