Benjamin Savšek
Benjamin Savšek (born 24 March 1987) is a Slovenian slalom canoeist who has competed at the international level since 2002, specializing in the C1 discipline. With an Olympic gold, 2 individual world titles and 4 individual European titles, he is one of the most successful C1 paddlers of his generation. Savšek competed at three Olympic Games. His first appearance was at the 2012 Summer Olympics where he finished in 8th place in the C1 event. He finished in 6th place in the same event four years later at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. At the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo he won gold in the C1 event after completing a clean run in the final. Savšek won nine medals at the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships including 5 individual medals. He won gold in the C1 event in 2017 in Pau and then again in 2023 in London. He also has two silvers (2014 and 2015) and a bronze (2013). The other four medals came from the C1 team events as part of the Slovenian team. These ...

2015 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships
The 2015 ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships were the 37th edition of the ICF Canoe Slalom World Championships. The event took place from 15 to 20 September 2015 in London, United Kingdom, under the auspices of International Canoe Federation (ICF), at the Lee Valley White Water Centre facility, which was also the venue for the canoe slalom events at the 2012 Summer Olympics. The London bid was selected by the ICF Board of Directors on April 15, 2011 in Paris. London defeated Bourg St.-Maurice in the bidding process. 2021 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2021 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place from 6 to 9 May 2021 in Ivrea, Italy under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 22nd edition of the competition. Ivrea hosted the event for the first time. The extreme canoe slalom events made their debut at the European Championships (formerly known as Extreme K1). 2013 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2013 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Kraków, Poland between June 6 and 9, 2013 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA) at the Kraków-Kolna Canoe Slalom Course. 2012 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2012 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Augsburg, Germany between May 9 and 13, 2012 under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 13th edition and Augsburg hosted this event for the second time after its inaugural edition in 1996. The races were held on the Eiskanal which also hosted the 1972 Summer Olympics when canoe slalom made its first appearance at the Olympics. This event also served as the European qualification for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. The women's C1 team event had its first running at the European Championships, but did not count as a medal event due to insufficient number of participating countries. An event must have at least 5 nations taking part in order to count as a medal event.

2025 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2025 European Canoe Slalom Championships took from 15 to 18 May in Vaires-sur-Marne, France under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was be the 26th edition of the competition. Vaires-sur-Marne, venue of the 2024 Summer Olympics, hosted the event for the first time. The qualification system of the previous years changed for these championships. There was only one run of qualification in classic slalom events with top 30 boats in each category advancing to the semifinals. The top 12 boats from the semifinals then advanced to the finals. Russian athletes were permitted to compete as independent athletes. Andorra and Belgium won their first ever medals at the European Canoe Slalom Championships courtesy of Mònica Dòria and Gabriel De Coster respectively. It was the 18th edition of the competition and Tacen hosted the event for the second time after previously hosting it in 2005. 2024 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2024 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place from 15 to 19 May in Tacen, Slovenia under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 25th edition of the competition. Tacen hosted the event for the third time after previously hosting it in 2005 and 2017. It was the first major international competition on the Tacen Whitewater Course after the floods in early August 2023, which had caused major damage to the facilities. A new medal event was introduced at these championships, the kayak cross individual, which also served as a qualification time trial for the main kayak cross event. The first titles were claimed by Alena Marx and Vít Přindiš. The original schedule had to be amended due to high water level of the river Sava on Friday, 16 May. The classic slalom events only had 1 run of qualification with the top 12 paddlers advancing straight to the final, as opposed to 2 qualification rounds, a semifinal and a final. 2022 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2022 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place from 26 to 29 May in Liptovský Mikuláš, Slovakia under the auspices of the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was the 23rd edition of the competition. Liptovský Mikuláš hosted the event for the third time after 2007 and 2016. A total of 10 medal events took place, 6 individual and 4 team events. The women's K1 event had two gold medalists after Eliška Mintálová and Stefanie Horn achieved the same time in the final run. This was the first time that there was a tie for any medal at the European Championships. Almost 200 athletes from 27 countries participated in the event. Russia and Belarus were excluded from participation due to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. 2020 European Canoe Slalom Championships
The 2020 European Canoe Slalom Championships took place in Prague, Czech Republic from 18 to 20 September 2020. Originally they were scheduled to take place in London, England, from 15 to 17 May 2020. However, on 18 March, the European Canoe Association announced that the event had been cancelled, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Later on it was announced that the event would be held in Prague instead of one of the rounds of the World Cup series. It was the 21st edition of the competition, and took place at the Prague-Troja Canoeing Centre. Several leading countries (including Germany, Great Britain and Slovakia) decided not to participate in the event due to COVID related concerns.
