Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band from Suffolk. Formed in 1991, the group originally consisted of lead vocalist Dani Filth (real name Daniel Davey), guitarist Paul Ryan, bassist Jon Pritchard, keyboardist Benjamin Ryan (brother of Paul Ryan), and drummer Darren "Daz" Gardner. The band's current lineup includes Filth alongside drummer Martin "Marthus" Škaroupka (since 2006), bassist Daniel Firth (since 2012), guitarists Marek "Ashok" Šmerda (since 2014) and Donny Burbage (since 2022), and keyboardist and female vocalist Zoe Marie Federoff (since 2022). Cradle of Filth are an English extreme metal band formed in Suffolk in 1991. The band's musical style evolved originally from black metal to a cleaner and more "produced" amalgam of gothic metal, symphonic metal and other metal genres. Their lyrical themes and imagery are heavily influenced by Gothic literature, poetry, mythology and horror films. Dave Pybus
Dave Pybus (born 4 June 1970) is an English extreme metal musician, best known as the former bass player of Cradle of Filth. Career Pybus's first band was called Anul Death (1988–1991) which later changed its name to Darkened. From 1990 to 1994, Pybus worked at Peaceville Records as a graphic designer. His name is credited on several records from that period including Darkthrone - '' A Blaze in the Northern Sky'', Autopsy - ''Mental Funeral'', My Dying Bride - '' As the Flower Withers'' and '' Turn Loose the Swans''. Martin Powell
Martin Powell is an English musician. In 1991, Powell auditioned for the position of bass player in the band My Dying Bride, but was turned down as the band had just filled the position. Upon informing the band he was also a violin and keyboard player, he was hired as a session musician, before becoming the band's permanent violinist and keyboardist. Around 1998, Powell and My Dying Bride parted ways and he joined Anathema, in the role of live keyboardist, only to depart two years later. In 2000, Powell joined the British extreme metal band Cradle of Filth along with drummer Adrian Erlandsson and guitarist Paul Allender after the departure of Les 'Lecter' Smith. Adrian Paul Erlandsson (born 27 October 1970) is a Swedish Heavy metal music, heavy metal drummer who is a member of At the Gates (1990–present), The Haunted (Swedish band), The Haunted (1996–1999, 2013–present), and Nemhain (2006–present). It is a concept album based on the legend of the Hungarian "blood countess" Elizabeth Báthory and features guest narration by actress Ingrid Pitt in-character as Báthory, a role she first played in the Hammer Horror film '' Countess Dracula'' in 1971. Keith Leslie Smith is a former English keyboardist, once in the bands Anathema (1996, 2001–2011) and Cradle of Filth (1998–2000). Biography He was born in 1967 in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, England. Smith undertook session work on keyboards for the English band Anathema on their album ''Eternity'', released in 1996. During his time in Cradle of Filth, his stage persona consisted of wearing a custom Vicar Priest top, black leather trousers and goth make-up. He played keyboards in two of Cradle's releases: ''Cruelty and the Beast'' and ''From the Cradle to Enslave''. Smith was a session musician of the band '' Tourettes''. Music For Nations
Music for Nations (MFN) is a British independent record label focusing mainly on rock and metal. Originally a subsidiary of Zomba Records, which was a division of BMG, the label was closed in 2004 and later revived in 2015 by Sony Music Entertainment. Launched in 1983 by Martin Hooker, Music for Nations established itself as a European leader in the rock and metal world, with early signings like Tank, Exciter, Metallica (who had three gold albums while on MFN), Slayer and Megadeth paving the way. As MFN grew, the company expanded its operation to include not just licensed acts from the United States, but its own signings. It released albums by artists including Paradise Lost, Opeth, Anathema, Cradle of Filth, Testament and countless other metal bands. ''Dusk... and Her Embrace'' is the second studio album by English extreme metal band Cradle of Filth. It was released on 28 August 1996. and is their first release on the label Music for Nations. Background Much of the material for the album was written while the band were still under Cacophonous Records' contract.
