Benjamin Kirsten
Benjamin Kirsten (born 2 June 1987) is a German former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent much of his active career with Dynamo Dresden and 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig. Early life Kirsten was born in Riesa, East Germany. In 1989, at the age of two, he began to play football at Dynamo Dresden and in July 1990 left with his father Ulf Kirsten for Bayer 04 Leverkusen where he played the following 16 years with the club's youth team. Career In July 2006, Kirsten was promoted to the Bayer Leverkusen reserve squad in the Regionalliga. He played two games for the team who were coached by his father Ulf. In January 2008, he left Bayer Leverkusen after 17 years and six months to join Waldhof Mannheim. On 16 June 2008, after only half a year with Waldhof he returned to Dynamo Dresden, where he made his debut – his first professional game – on 2 May 2009 against Fortuna Düsseldorf. The Regionalliga Nordost is the fourth tier of German football league system, German football in the states of Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony and Thuringia. These comprise the states of former East Germany as well as West Berlin. The 2012–13 Dynamo Dresden season is the 63rd season in the club's football history. In 2012–13 the club plays in the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga, the second tier of German football. Wolfgang Hesl
Wolfgang Hesl (born 13 January 1986) is a German former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Career Hesl joined Hamburger SV in 2004 and was part of the club's first team since the beginning of the 2005–06 season. After making over 70 appearances for the club's reserve team in the Regionalliga, he made his Bundesliga debut for Hamburg on 17 May 2008 in their final league game of the 2007–08 season, a 7–0 win at home to Karlsruhe, coming on as a substitute for Frank Rost in the 74th minute. He also appeared in four UEFA Europa League matches for Hamburg during the 2009–10 season. When Jaroslav Drobný joined Hamburg in the summer of 2010, Hesl would have been only third choice and was therefore loaned out to Austrian side SV Ried for one season. Promotion and relegation is used by sports leagues as a process where teams can move up and down among divisions in a league system, based on their performance over a season. ''Sächsische Zeitung'' (; "Saxon Newspaper") is a regional German daily newspaper. The paper is published in Dresden. Its circulation is around 227.940, a fall of around 40% since 1998. Around 93% of copies sold are delivered to subscribers. Despite the name, the paper is mainly distributed in east Saxony. Matthias Maucksch
Matthias Maucksch (born 11 June 1969) is a German former footballer who played as midfielder or defender and worked as a manager in different Teams of Germanys 4th and 3rd leagues. Playing career Maucksch came through the youth system at Dynamo Dresden, and made his debut in the DDR-Oberliga in 1987. He stayed with Dynamo after reunification, and played in the Bundesliga for four seasons, his 118 appearances the club record at this level. After Dynamo's double relegation in 1995, he joined 2. Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, where he remained for two years, leaving after their promotion to the Bundesliga. After one year back in Saxony with VfB Leipzig, he returned to the Bundesliga with 1. FC Nürnberg, but only made five league appearances and left after a year. 2010–11 Dynamo Dresden Season
The 2010–11 season saw Dynamo Dresden challenge for promotion from the 3. Liga for the first time since its foundation in 2008. After shaky start, they found themselves in contention for third place, behind the top two of Eintracht Braunschweig and Hansa Rostock. When a poor run of form in March and April put this position into jeopardy, manager Matthias Maucksch was sacked and replaced with Ralf Loose. The change had the desired effect - Dynamo win five of their last six games (drawing the other), beating Kickers Offenbach on the last day of the season to secure third place, and a playoff with VfL Osnabrück, who had finished third bottom in the 2. Bundesliga. The first leg of the playoff, in Dresden, ended in a 1–1 draw, as did the 90 minutes of the second leg, but Dynamo scored two goals in extra time to win 4–2 on aggregate and return to the second division after a five-year absence.
