Benjamin Baumgartner
Benjamin Baumgartner (born 22 April 2000) is an Austrian ice hockey forward who plays for SC Bern in the National League (NL). He was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the sixth round, 161st overall, of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Baumgartner began his youth career at the under‑17 level with the ZSC Lions before joining HC Davos' junior development program in 2014 at just 14 years old. He broke into the professional ranks in the 2018–19 season as an 18‑year‑old, appearing in 20 games for Davos and recording 1 goal and 4 points. On March 11, 2019, he secured his first full professional deal by signing a three‑year extension with HC Davos. Having progressed through HC Davos system, Baumgartner held a Swiss-player license in the NL. During the 2019–20 season, Baumgartner suited up for HC Davos, tallying 27 points over 37 regular‑season games. Austria Men's National Junior Ice Hockey Team
The Austrian men's national under 20 ice hockey team is the national under-20 ice hockey team in Austria. The team represents Austria at the International Ice Hockey Federation's IIHF World Junior Championship. History Austria made its first Pool A appearance in 1981, however, after being relegated the team spent several years competing in either Pool B or Pool C. In 2000, the Austrians defeated Slovenia 6–2 to advance out of Pool C and into Division I for the 2001 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Austria finally qualified for the top level for 2004, by defeating Norway 6–4 in their final contest. Austria however was relegated back to Division I for 2005. The team has been unable to maintain a steady presence as part of the Top Division, their most recent appearance being in 2010. 2017 IIHF World U18 Championships
The 2017 IIHF U18 World Championship was the 19th IIHF World U18 Championship and was hosted by Poprad and Spišská Nová Ves, Slovakia. The tournament was played from 13 to 23 April 2017. Swiss League
The Swiss League, also known as the Sky Swiss League for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier of the main professional ice hockey league in Switzerland, behind the National League (ice hockey), National League. The winners of the league each season plays a best-of-seven series against the bottom team of the NL, and if they win, they are promoted, while the National League team is relegated to the Swiss League. In 2024, the Swiss League changed its name to Sky Swiss League as a partnership with broadcaster Sky Switzerland. Prior to the 2017–18 Swiss League season, 2017–18 season, the league was formerly called National League B. The league attendance in 2018–19 was about 2,700 spectators. HCB Ticino Rockets
The GDT Bellinzona Snakes are a Swiss professional ice hockey team who play in Bellinzona in the canton of Ticino. The club was founded as HC Iragna in Iragna in 1987. In 2007 the club was moved to Biasca of the Riviera, where in 2016 they became a professional side named HCB Ticino Rockets, before moving again to Bellinzona and changing their name twice more. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. Penalties are called and enforced by the Official (ice hockey)#Referees, referee, or in some cases, the Official (ice hockey)#Linesmen, linesman. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short handed, short-handed as opposed to full strength. When the opposing team is said to be on a ''Power play (ice hockey), power play'', they will have one more player on the ice than the short-handed team. The short-handed team is said to be "on the penalty kill" until the penalty expires and the penalized player returns to play.
