Beneventum (Africa)
Beneventum was an ancient city and bishopric in Tunisia. It is now a Catholic Church, Latin Catholic titular see. Beneventum was a Roman Empire, Roman and Byzantine era civitas, city in the province of Africa Proconsularis. Its presumed present location is at the ruins of Beniata, located near Bizerte in modern Tunisia. History Beneventum was import enough in the Roman province of Africa proconsularis to become a suffragan of its capital Carthage (episcopal see), Carthage's Metropolitan Archbishop, yet was to fade. Titular see Very little is known of the ancient bishopric and though suffragan of the Archdiocese of Carthage no bishops are known by name. Carlos Oviedo Cavada
Carlos Oviedo Cavada, O. de M. (19 January 1927 – 7 December 1998) was a Chilean Cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Santiago de Chile from 1990 to 1998, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1994. Biography Cavada was born in Santiago, and entered the Order of Mercy on 28 January 1944, taking simple vows on 18 March 1945 and solemn vows on 19 March 1948. He entered the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He was ordained on 24 September 1949 in Santiago and later went on to study at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome from 1949 to 1953 where he earned a doctorate in canon law. He was a faculty member and spiritual director at St. Peter Nolasco School and after that a faculty member at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile from 1953 until 1958. Dicastery For Promoting Integral Human Development
The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development () is a dicastery of the Roman curia. The Vatican announced the creation of the dicastery on 31 August 2016 and it became effective 1 January 2017. Cardinal Peter Turkson was named its first prefect. The Prefect is to be assisted by a Secretary and at least one Undersecretary. On 21 December 2021, members of the dicastery's leadership submitted their resignations in anticipation of the end of their five-year mandate in January. Pope Francis accepted them. On 23 December 2021, Pope Francis named Cardinal Michael Czerny and Sister Alessandra Smerilli Interim Prefect and Secretary, respectively, of the dicastery, beginning 1 January 2022. Michael Czerny
Michael Felix Czerny (born 18 July 1946) is a Czech-born Canadian Catholic prelate who has served as prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development since 2022. He was under secretary of the dicastery's Migrants and Refugees Section from 2017 to 2022. Pope Francis made him a cardinal in 2019. A member of the Jesuits, Czerny has worked to promote social justice in Canada, Latin America, Africa, and Rome. Early years Michael Czerny was born in Brno, Czechoslovakia, on 18 July 1946. Manuel Monteiro de Castro (born 29 March 1938) is a Portuguese prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from 1967 to 2009, with the rank of archbishop and the title of nuncio from 1985.
