Benedikt Hertel
Benedikt Hertel (born 26 December 1996) is a German bobsledder. Career During his junior career, Hertel won gold in the four-man events at the 2017 IBSF Junior Bobsleigh World Championships and 2018 U23 World Championships. In January 2022, he competed at the IBSF Junior World Championships 2022 and won bronze medals in the two-man and four-man events. Hertel represented Germany at the IBSF World Championships 2024 and won a bronze medal in the four-man event. He again represented Germany at the IBSF World Championships 2025 and won a bronze medal in the two-man event, along with Adam Ammour Adam Ammour (born 7 June 2001) is a German bobsledder. Bobsleigh or bobsled is a winter sport in which teams of 2 to 4 athletes make timed speed runs down narrow, twisting, banked, iced tracks in a gravity-powered sleigh. International bobsleigh competitions are governed by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (formerly the FIBT). The first bobsleds were built in the late 19th century in St. Moritz, Switzerland, by wealthy tourists from Victorian Britain who were staying at the Badrutt's Palace Hotel, Palace Hotel owned by Caspar Badrutt. The early sleds were adapted from boys' delivery sleds and toboggans. These eventually evolved into bobsleighs, luges and Skeleton (sport), skeletons. Initially the tourists would race their hand-built contraptions down the narrow streets of St. Moritz; however, as collisions increased, growing opposition from St. Moritz residents led to bobsledding being eventually banned from public highways. René Spies
René Spies (born 5 July 1973 in Winterberg, North Rhine-Westphalia) is a German bobsledder who competed from 1991 to 2006. He won a bronze medal in the two-man event at the 2003 FIBT World Championships in Lake Placid, New York. Competing in two Winter Olympics, Spies earned his best finish of fifth in the four-man event at Turin in 2006. His best finish in the Bobsleigh World Cup was second three times (Combined: 2002-3, Two-man: 2000-1, 2002-3). IBSF World Championships (bobsleigh And Skeleton)
The IBSF World Championships (known as the FIBT World Championships until 2015), part of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation, have taken place on an annual basis since 1930. Starting with 2002, no World Championships being held in non-Winter Olympic years. A two-man event was included in 1931 with a combined championship occurring in 1947. Men's skeleton was introduced as a championship of its own in 1982 while women's bobsleigh and skeleton events were introduced in 2000. Both the women's bobsleigh and skeleton events were merged with the men's bobsleigh events at the 2004 championships. A mixed team event, consisting of one run each of men's skeleton, women's skeleton, 2-man bobsleigh, and 2-women bobsleigh, was held from 2007 to 2019. In 2020 it was replaced with skeleton mixed team event, consisting of one run each of men's and women's skeleton. Women's monobob event was included in 2021. Adam Ammour (born 7 June 2001) is a German bobsledder. Career Ammour and his brother, Issam, competed as a team together for the first time during the 2023–24 Bobsleigh World Cup. In February 2024, Ammour represented Germany at the IBSF European Championships 2024 and won a gold medal in the two-man event, along with his brother, Issam. He then competed at the IBSF World Championships 2024 and won a silver medal in the two-man event, and a bronze medal in the four-man event.
