Camilla Persson Benbow is a Swedish-born (Scania) American educational psychologist and a university professor. She studies the education of intellectually gifted students. Biography Camilla Benbow is the Patricia and Rodes Hart Dean of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University's Peabody College. She is an educational psychologist who has focused on education of intellectually gifted young people. Benbow is co-director (with David Lubinski) of the Study of Mathematically Precocious Youth (SMPY), a longitudinal study that examines the development of over 5,000 individuals over their life-spans. John Benbow
Vice-Admiral John Benbow (10 March 16534 November 1702) was an English Royal Navy officer. He joined the Navy in 1678, seeing action against Barbary pirates before leaving to join the Merchant Navy in which Benbow served until the 1688 Glorious Revolution, whereupon he returned to the Royal Navy and was commissioned. Benbow fought against the French Navy during the Nine Years' War, serving on and later commanding several English warships and taking part in the battles of Beachy Head and Barfleur and La Hogue in 1690 and 1692. He went on to achieve fame during his military accomplishments, which included fighting against Barbary pirates such as the Salé Rovers, besieging Saint-Malo and seeing action in the West Indies against the French during the War of the Spanish Succession. Kay Benbow (November 1961 – 24 March 2024) was a British broadcasting executive, and was the Controller of the BBC channel CBeebies from 2010 to 2017. Early life Kay Benbow was born in Sheffield. Her secondary education was at Littleover Community School. She studied Theology at St Hugh's College, Oxford, gaining her degree in 1980. She joined the BBC in 1984. BBC Children's Kay Benbow began working for BBC Children's in 1988. She moved to CBeebies in 2002. CBeebies launched in February 2002. During this time she also spent two years outside the BBC at Tell-Tale Productions until 2000. She became the second Controller of CBeebies in May 2010. Len Benbow
Leonard Benbow (3 May 1876 – 1946) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Nottingham Forest and Stoke. Benbow played for Oswestry United and Shrewsbury Town before joining Nottingham Forest in 1897. He won the 1898 FA Cup with Forest and scored 22 goals for the club in 62 games. He spent the 1900–01 season at Stoke scored four goals in 24 matches and ended his career with Northampton Town. Career Benbow was born in Oswestry and played for his local team Oswestry United and then nearby Shrewsbury Town. Benbow's performances in the Birmingham League for Shrewsbury earned him a move to Nottingham Forest in 1897. In his first season with Forest he enjoyed a large amount of success as he scored 13 goals and played in the 1898 FA Cup Final as Forest beat Derby County to lift the cup. He was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 2nd round (27th pick overall) of the 1974 NBA draft and by the San Diego Conquistadors in the seventh round of the 1974 ABA Draft. Stephen George "Steve" Benbow (29 November 1931 – 17 November 2006), was a British folk guitar player, singer and music director, who was influential in the English folk music revival of the 1960s. Warren Benbow (December 22, 1954 – September 29, 2024) was a drummer who worked with Nina Simone, Jimmy Owens, Larry Willis, Eddie Gómez, Olu Dara, Michael Urbaniak, Teruo Nakamura, and was an original member of James Blood Ulmer's band, Odyssey. Career At the High School of Performing Arts, Benbow studied drums and percussion with Warren Smith and Morris Goldenberg of the Juilliard School.
