Benanain River
The Benanain River is a river of western Timor, Indonesia. This river is the longest and the largest di the West Timor area, with a length of 132 km. The river is located in three regencies: Malaka, Timor Tengah Utara and Timor Tengah Selatan, province East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. The upstream rises from Mount Mutis, flowing in the southeast direction until discharging to Timor Sea near Besikama. Hydrology The watershed (Indonesian: ''Daerah Aliran Sungai''/DAS) of Benanain has an area of 3,158 km2 comprising Malaka, Timor Tengah Utara, Timor Tengah Selatan and also a small part of Belu Regency. It is the largest watershed in the East Nusa Tenggara province. The Benanain River has a characteristic of very extreme discharge fluctuation, giving the indication that the condition of this watershed is in a serious damage. Mount Mutis ( id: Gunung Mutis), also known as Nuaf Nefomasi, is a mountain and highest point of East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia, at above sea level. Belu Regency
Belu Regency is a regency in East Nusa Tenggara province of Indonesia. Established on 20 December 1958, Belu Regency has its seat (capital) in the large town of Atambua. In December 2012 a separate Regency - Malaka Regency - was created from the twelve districts that formerly comprised the southern half of Belu Regency. Belu means friend in Tetum. The residual part of Belu Regency had a population of 188,163 at the 2010 Census, which rose to 206,476 at the 2015 Census and to 217,973 at the 2020 Census. The official estimate as at mid 2021 was 227,397. This is a list of river catchment areas, also known as drainage basins, in Indonesia. Based on the National River Basin Classification map, Indonesia has a total of 42,210 river basins organized as a basis for determining watershed management policies. The policy decisions are based on various criteria such as land conditions (critical land, land cover, erosion), water quality, water quantity, water continuity, socio-economic factors, investment in soil and water conservation structures, as well as spatial utilization. In the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) for the period 2015–2019, there were 15 priority river basins (indicated in yellow) out of 108 designated priority river basins in the Integrated River Basin Management Plan (RPDAST) according to Decree No. 328/Menhut-II/2009. Crocodiles
Crocodiles (family Crocodylidae) or true crocodiles are large semiaquatic reptiles that live throughout the tropics in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia. The Timor Sea ( id, Laut Timor, pt, Mar de Timor, tet, Tasi Mane or ) is a relatively shallow sea bounded to the north by the island of Timor, to the east by the Arafura Sea, and to the south by Australia. The sea contains a number of reefs, uninhabited islands and significant hydrocarbon reserves. International disputes emerged after the reserves were discovered resulting in the signing of the Timor Sea Treaty. The Timor Sea was hit by the worst oil spill for 25 years in 2009.
