Ben Coccio
Benjamin Coccio (born August 2, 1975) is an American filmmaker from Niskayuna, New York. He is best known for his feature film work, directing '' Zero Day'' and co-writing ''The Place Beyond The Pines''. Biography Coccio attended the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 1997 with a BFA Film/Animation/Video. Coccio's first directorial effort was the short film ''5:45am'', released in 2000 by IFC. His next project was '' Zero Day'', a fictionalized account of two high-school teens who plan and then execute a violent attack on their peers inside their high school. The film was admittedly a study of the Columbine High School massacre, and the two characters bear much resemblance to the perpetrators Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Niskayuna, New York
Niskayuna is a town in Schenectady County, New York, United States. The population was 23,278 at the 2020 census. The town is located in the southeast part of the county, east of the city of Schenectady, and is the easternmost town in the county. The current Town Supervisor is Jaime Puccioni. History The Town of Niskayuna was created on March 7, 1809, from the town of Watervliet, with an initial population of 681. The name of town was derived from early patents to Dutch settlers: ''Nis-ti-go-wo-ne'' or ''Co-nis-tig-i-one'', both derived from the Mohawk language. The 19th-century historians Howell and Munsell mistakenly identified Conistigione as an Indian tribe, but they were a band of Mohawk people known by the term for this location. Schenectady () is a city in Schenectady County, New York, United States, of which it is the county seat. The Independent Spirit Awards (abbreviated Spirit Awards and originally known as the FINDIE or Friends of Independents Awards), founded in 1984, are awards dedicated to independent filmmakers. Winners were typically presented with acrylic glass pyramids containing suspended shoestrings representing the bare budgets of independent films. ''Zero Day'' is a 2003 American found footage drama film written and directed by Ben Coccio and starring Andre Keuck and Cal Robertson revolving around a plot about a duo planning a school shooting. Plot Andre Kriegman (born July 17, 1982) and Calvin "Cal" Gabriel (born February 5, 1983) announce their intention to attack their high school, Iroquois High School, calling their plan "Zero Day". Eric David Harris (April 9, 1981 – April 20, 1999) and Dylan Bennet Klebold (; September 11, 1981 – April 20, 1999) were an American mass murder duo who perpetrated the Columbine High School massacre on April 20, 1999.
