Ben Arnold, Texas
Ben Arnold is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Milam County, Texas, United States. Ben Arnold (Benarnold) is on U.S. Highway 77, seven miles north of Cameron in northern Milam County. Per the 2020 census, the population was 117. History The community began as a stop on the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway in 1890 and was named for Bennie Arnold, B. I. Arnold's three-year-old daughter, who was mascot on the first train to pull into the new station. A local post office was opened in 1892, and by 1896 the community had three churches, a district school, and 125 residents. In 1903, the school had two teachers and eighty students. By the 1920s, the population of Ben Arnold rose to 250; it remained fairly stable until the late 1960s, when it declined to 148. Ben Arnold (bishop)
Morris Fairchild "Ben" Arnold (January 5, 1915 – December 3, 1992) served as suffragan bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts from 1972 to 1982. Early life and education Arnold was born on January 5, 1915, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of LeRoy Arnold and Kate Fairchild. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude from Williams College in 1936, and a Master of Divinity cum laude from the Episcopal Theological School in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1940. He was awarded a Doctor of Divinity by Kenyon College in 1961 and another by Williams College in 1972. Family Arnold married Margaret Day Bradley on June 14, 1937, and together had a son and a daughter. After their divorce, Arnold married Harriet Borda Schmidgall, in January 1978. Ordained ministry Arnold was ordained deacon in June 1940, and priest in December 1940 by Bishop Henry Knox Sherrill of Massachusetts. Ben Arnold (judge)
Benjamin Cleveland Arnold (1891–1972) was an attorney and judge in Oklahoma. He earned a B. A. degree in 1920 and a law degree in 1924 from Oklahoma University. His first judgeship was as a district judge in Oklahoma County, near Wister, Oklahoma. In 1941, Governor Leon C. Phillips appointed Arnold as Associate Justice on the Oklahoma Supreme Court, representing District 3. He served as chief justice from 1951 to 1953. Arnold died while in office on September 30, 1955, and was succeeded by Albert C. Hunt. During the 1930s, Oklahoma City officials established a new drilling zone inside the city, including a area around the state capitol building. In March 1936, Governor E. W. Marland ordered the National Guard into the Oklahoma City field to prevent civil process servers from ordering the oil field workers to shut down production.
