Belen is an unincorporated community in Quitman County, Mississippi. Belen is located on Mississippi Highway 316, west of Marks. History Belen is named for the assault that occurred at the Belén Gate during the Battle for Mexico City. John A. Quitman, for whom Quitman County was named for, commanded one of the divisions at this assault. Belen was originally located a few miles east of the current location, but in 1880 it was moved to its current location. The former location became known as Old Belen. Marta Belen (December 1, 1942 – April 5, 2005) was an American opera singer, artist, and music coach. She was the first American to record Rachmaninoff's art songs in Russian. Early life and education Marta Belen was born Martha Gradine Pinnell in the small town of Meridian, Texas to Grady Pinnell and Gladys Weehunt. She graduated with a degree in composition from Wichita State University and in 1967 received a degree in music theory from Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Later she studied voice with Igor Gorin at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Belén, Honduras
Belén is a municipality in the Honduran department of Lempira. The latitude is 15.75 north, the longitude is 87.93 west, and the altitude is 313 meters. Belén is one of the municipalities of the Lempira department. It is located south east from the colonial city of Gracias, following the paved road heading to the Intibucá Department. The first big town in Intibucá is called San Juan (del Caite). To make it to the centre of the town, it is necessary to take a turn off at approximately 24 km from Gracias and then 3 km to the town. Belén is the seventh canton in the Heredia province of Costa Rica. The head city is in San Antonio district. It is part of the Greater Metropolitan Area, where the housing area constitutes at least 25% of the canton's surface. It limits to the north and west with the canton of Alajuela, to the east with Flores and Heredia, and to the south with San José, Escazú and Santa Ana. It was founded on June 8, 1907.
