Belmont Shore RFC
Belmont Shore Rugby Club is an American rugby union team named after the Belmont Shore neighborhood of Long Beach, California, which has a tradition of amateur rugby. History The Belmont Shore team was founded in 1974, and was one of the original US Rugby Super League teams in 1997. The team has been in the Super League Finals in seven of the past ten championships. They have been league champions four times, most recently in 2007. They were runners-up to the New York Athletic Club team in 2005, and to the San Diego–based Old Mission Beach Athletic Club team in 2006. Belmont Shore dropped out of the Rugby Super League in October, 2009. In 2014 it joined the Pacific Rugby Premiership. Mike Hercus (born June 5, 1979) is an American former professional rugby union player who played at fly-half for the United States national team and several top-level professional clubs around the globe. Hercus is the USA Eagles' all-time leading scorer with 465 points and is the leading scorer for the U.S. in Rugby World Cups with 77 points. At the time of his final match, Hercus was the Eagles' all-time most capped back. The Professional Rugby Organization, known as PRO Rugby, was an American professional rugby union competition. PRO began play in April 2016 with five teams and ceased operations by January 2017. The competition was sanctioned by USA Rugby and by World Rugby. This was the first professional rugby competition in North America. Michael Paseka Te'o (born July 23, 1993) is an American professional rugby player who plays for the San Diego Legion of Major League Rugby (MLR).
