Bellingham Dodgers
The Bellingham Dodgers were a Minor League Baseball team in the Class A-Short Season Northwest League, based in Bellingham, Washington. The franchise played four season as an affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1973 to 1976. In 1977 the team would change names to Bellingham Mariners representative of their new parent club. History The franchise arrived in 1973 as the Bellingham Dodgers, affiliated with the Los Angeles Dodgers. After three seasons in Medford and one season in Spokane in 1972, the Dodgers moved their Northwest League affiliate to Bellingham for 1973. In their first season the Dodgers posted a record of 42–37. The Dodgers would build upon their initial success. Bellingham went 52–32 on the year to win the West Division title. Class A-Short Season
Class A Short Season (officially Short-Season A) was a level of play in Minor League Baseball in the United States from 1965 through 2020. In the hierarchy of minor league classifications, it was below Triple-A, Double-A, Class A-Advanced (created in 1990), and Class A. Teams in Class A Short Season played about 75 to 80 games per season, compared to the 130- to 140-game seasons of most professional baseball minor leagues. As part of the 2021 reorganization of the minor leagues, Class A Short Season was eliminated along with its two leagues, the New York–Penn League and Northwest League. Bellingham Bells
The Bellingham Bells are a collegiate summer baseball team in the West Coast League. The team is composed of college baseball players from teams around the U.S. Originally founded as an expansion team in the Pacific International League, the Bells won the league's title and participated in the National Baseball Congress World Series in their first year. The Bells left the PIL after the 2004 season and became a founding member of the West Coast League. During their time in the WCL, the Bells have won one league championship and four division titles. Bill Berrier
William F. Berrier (born April 21, 1938) is a former baseball manager. He managed in the Los Angeles Dodgers minor league system for 10 years from 1966-1976. His career managerial record was 1,023-496, a winning percentage of .675. He won the Northwest League championship with the Rogue Valley Dodgers in 1969. Prior to his extensive managerial career, he played in the Dodgers farm system from 1960-1967. After leaving the Dodgers organization, Berrier was the head coach and athletic director at Juniata College until he retired in 2007. He was named to the Juniata College Hall of Fame in 1995, and the Middle Atlantic Conferences Hall of Fame in 2016.
