''Bellator Champions Series 5: McCourt vs. Collins'' (also known as ''Bellator Champions Series London'') was a mixed martial arts event produced by Bellator MMA that took place on September 14, 2024, at OVO Arena Wembley in London, England. This is the last event to be promoted by Bellator MMA as the company ceased operations in January 2025. Background The event marked the promotion's eighth visit to London and first since Bellator 281 in May 2022. A Bellator Middleweight World Championship rematch between current champion Johnny Eblen and Fabian Edwards was expected to headline the event. The pairing previously met at Bellator 299 in September 2023, which Eblen won by third-round knockout. However on September 3, the bout was rescheduled for a later date with a women's featherweight title eliminator bout between Leah McCourt and Sara Collins served as the new main event. Bellator MMA (formerly Bellator Fighting Championships) was an American mixed martial arts promotion (entertainment), promotion founded in 2008 by Bjorn Rebney and operated until 2025. The promotion takes its name from ''wikt:bellator, bellātor'', the Latin word for "warrior". Leah McCourt (born 21 June 1992) is a Northern Irish professional mixed martial arts, mixed martial artist and Submission wrestling, submission grappler who competes in the Featherweight (MMA), Featherweight division of Bellator MMA. Background McCourt, who grew up on a Public housing in the United Kingdom, council estate in Belfast, was enrolled in judo as a child by her father. Bellator MMA (formerly known as "Bellator Fighting Championships") was an American mixed martial arts promotion, and the following is a history of its champions in each weight class. At the time of its inception in 2008, CEO Bjorn Rebney founded Bellator Fighting Championships as a tournament based organization. The inaugural champion for each weight class was determined by the winner of an eight-man tournament. All subsequent title challengers were required to first win an eight-man tournament in a specific weight class in order to earn the right to challenge that division's reigning champion. Sara Collins (born August 22, 1990) is an Australian mixed martial artist and former judoka, competing in the Featherweight division of Bellator MMA. Background Collins is a judo black belt who started training in the sport at 10, going on to be a member of the Australian National Judo Team for 10 years, representing Australia at the World Judo Championships three times, at 63 kg in 2010 and at 70 kg in 2011 and 2013.
