Belkhir El Farouk
Belkhir El Farouk (, ; born 1948) is a Moroccan military general. He was appointed as Inspector General by King Mohammed VI in 2021, replacing Abdelfattah Louarak, having previously been appointed Commander of the Southern Military Zone in 2019. He was replaced by Mohammed Berrid on April 22, 2023 after asking to be relieved of his duties for health reasons. Early life Belkhir El Farouk was born in the village of Id Bouchini, near Mirleft, in 1948. He was born into the Shilha tribal confederation. He graduated from the Meknes Royal Military Academy in 1972 with the rank of second lieutenant. El Farouk obtained a Diploma of Higher Military Defense Studies in France. Mirleft
Mirleft (; ) is a small town and List of municipalities, communes, and arrondissements of Morocco, rural commune in Sidi Ifni Province of the Guelmim-Oued Noun region of Morocco. At the time of the 2004 Moroccan census, 2004 census, the commune had a total population of 7026 people living in 1303 households. Description Mirleft is perched on top of the gigantic ocher-colored cliffs bordering the ocean. The view of the Atlantic coast is magnificent, especially from Fort Tidli. Shilha People
The Shilha people (, ), or Schleuh or Ishelhien, are a Berber subgroup primarily inhabiting the Anti-Atlas, High Atlas, Sous valley, and Soussi coastal regions of Morocco. Overview The Shilha people traditionally call themselves ''ishelhien''. This endonym is rendered as ''les Chleuh'' in French. The Ishelhien are also known as ''Shluh'' and ''Schlöh''. Western Saharan Clashes (2020–present)
Clashes between military forces belonging to the Kingdom of Morocco and the self-proclaimed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR), represented at the United Nations by the Polisario Front, broke out in the disputed region of Western Sahara in November 2020. It was the latest escalation of an unresolved conflict over the region, which is largely occupied by Morocco, but 20–25% is administered by the SADR. The Meknes Royal Military Academy (known as The Military School of Dar el-Beïda before 1961), located in Meknes, Morocco, is an institution dedicated to the training and education of officers for the Royal Moroccan Armed Forces.
