Belgocontrol
Skeyes, formerly called Belgocontrol or in its complete form the Authority of airways (, ), is the Belgian air navigation and traffic service provider for the civil airspace for which the Belgian State is responsible. It was created in . skeyes is a member of the Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation ( CANSO), and is integrated into the Functional Airspace Block Europe Central (FABEC). Zones of activities In Belgium, its zones of activities extend up to flight level 245 (), including the control of the airports of Brussels, Charleroi, Liege, Antwerp and Ostend. In the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, they apply between flight levels 145 or 165 up to flight level 245. The sectors above flight level 245 fall within the competence of the Eurocontrol centre in Maastricht, to which Belgium has delegated air traffic control for its upper airspace. Saint-Hubert (; ) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Luxembourg, Belgium. On 1 January 2007 the municipality, which covers 111.16 km2 (42.92 sq mi), had 5,737 inhabitants, giving a population density of 51.6 inhabitants per square kilometre. Bertem () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Bertem proper, Korbeek-Dijle and Leefdaal. Deurne () is the second largest district of the municipality of Antwerp, Belgium, (right after the Antwerp town district) and has 82,270 inhabitants (2023). CANAC 2
CANAC 2 is the main Belgian air traffic control centre. It is a development of the previous CANAC building, and when it opened in 2009, it was one of the most advanced ATC centres in Europe. History In the late 1980s (and throughout the 1990s) French air traffic controllers often went on strike, leaving flights to be unceremoniously diverted over the Netherlands and Belgium.
