Belgian Railways Class 18 (Alsthom)
The Belgian Railways Class 18 was a type of electric locomotive operated by National Railway Company of Belgium, NMBS/SNCB of Belgium. They have been displaced from these workings by Thalys electric multiple units and were all retired from service by 1999. They were derived from the French SNCF CC 40100 express passenger locomotives. Their multi-voltage capabilities allowed them to work beyond Belgium's borders, mainly Paris - Brussels/Liège and Oostende - Cologne. The locomotives had an aluminum body with dark blue accents. Courcelles, Belgium
Courcelles (; ) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. As of January 1, 2006, Courcelles had a total population of 29,626. The total area is 44.24 km2 which gives a population density of 670 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Courcelles, Gouy-lez-Piéton, Souvret, and Trazegnies. In 1944, the town was the site of the Courcelles Massacre of 20 civilians by Belgian collaborators. The event is commemorated by a plaque at the site. The mining In 1853, a company, called Société Anonyme des Charbonnages du Nord de Charleroi, was formed to bring together the various concessions located in Courcelles. Co-Co is the wheel arrangement for diesel and electric locomotives with two six-wheeled bogies with all axles powered, with a separate traction motor per axle. Raeren () is a municipality of the German speaking community of Belgium located in the Walloon province of Liège. It was part of Germany until the First World War, after which it became part of Belgium. It is one of several towns in eastern Belgium which predominantly speak German.
