Cedric Belfrage
Cedric Henning Belfrage (8 November 1904 – 21 June 1990) was an English film critic, journalist, writer and political activist. He is best remembered as a co-founder of the radical US weekly '' National Guardian''. Later Belfrage was referenced as a Soviet agent in the US intelligence Venona project, although it appears he had been working for British Security Co-ordination as a double agent. Early years Cedric Henning Belfrage was born in Marylebone, London, on 8 November 1904, the son of Sydney Henning Belfrage and Frances Grace (née Powley). He was educated at Gresham's School, before entering Corpus Christi College, Cambridge. There he had the same room as Christopher Marlowe had in the 16th century. While still a Cambridge student, Belfrage began a writing career as a film critic, with a first article in ''Kinematograph Weekly'' in 1924. Bruce Belfrage
Bruce Belfrage (30 October 1900 – August 1974) was an English actor and BBC radio newsreader.Obituary in ''The Times'', ''Mr Bruce Belfrage'', 17 August 1974, p.14 He was casting director at the BBC between 1936 and 1939, and founded the BBC Repertory Company in 1939. Early life Bruce Belfrage was born in Marylebone, London, the son of Sydney Henning Belfrage and Frances Grace (née Powley). His younger brother was the author and journalist Cedric Belfrage. He was educated at Gresham's School before taking an honours degree in modern languages at St John's College, Oxford. Career Belfrage is reported as performing on stage in London with The Strolling Players in February 1923. Erik Belfrage
Erik Jean Christian Antoine Belfrage (13 April 1946 – 18 April 2020) was a Swedish diplomat, banking executive, and political consultant. Early life and education Belfrage was the son of diplomat Kurt-Allan Belfrage and his wife, Renée France Paule Puaux. His brother, Frank Belfrage, is an economist and diplomat. Belfrage graduated from Stockholm School of Economics in 1970. Career Belfrage worked in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs from 1970 to 1987 as a diplomat in Geneva, Washington, D.C., Bucharest, Beirut, and Paris. In 1987, he became vice president at Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken and as an adviser to Investor AB. Belfrage also served as an advisor to Peter Wallenberg and the Wallenberg family between 1987 and 2012. Frank Belfrage
Frank Kurt Claude Belfrage (born 13 March 1942) is a Swedish economist and diplomat who was State Secretary for Foreign Affairs between 2006 and 2014, heading the Ministry for Foreign Affairs under then Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt. He was previously Ambassador of Sweden to the European Union from 1994 to 1999 and Ambassador of Sweden to France from 2001 to 2006. Belfrage is a member of the noble Belfrage family. He is the son of diplomat Kurt-Allan Belfrage and his wife, Renée France Paule Puaux. He is the nephew of Leif Belfrage who was State Secretary for Foreign Affairs from 1956 to 1967. Fredrik Belfrage (born Knut Fredrik Åkesson Belfrage; 29 July 1949, in Växjö) is a Swedish TV and radio presenter and sports reporter. He is the son of the dentist Åke Belfrage (1915–1985) and Vera Maria, born Vange (1914–1984). He is descended from a noble family of Scottish origin, and wears a tie in his clan tartan. Henry Belfrage
Rev Henry Belfrage (1774–1835) was a Scottish minister of the Secession church. Life He was son of the Rev. John Belfrage, minister of the first Associate congregation in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, who was of a Kinross-shire family. The father was born at Colliston on 2 February 1736, soon after the Secession. He had been called to Falkirk in 1758; married Jean Whyte, daughter of John Whyte, a corn merchant, who belonged to the congregation, and had by her five sons and seven daughters. Henry was the fourth son, and was born at the manse in Falkirk on 24 March 1774. From the first he was destined by his parents to be a minister of the Gospel. Nicolas Belfrage MW (19 July 1940 – 17 September 2022) was a British Master of Wine, a wine writer and considered one of the foremost experts on Italian wine. Life and career Belfrage was born in Los Angeles in 1940, the son of British socialist writer Cedric Belfrage and his wife Molly Castle. He grew up in New York City and later in London where he was educated at St Paul's School on a scholarship. He studied French and Italian at University College London.
