Bela Rudenko
Bela Andreevna Rudenko (; August 18, 1933 – October 13, 2021) was a Ukrainian and Russian opera singer, music teacher, and professor of the Moscow Conservatory. People's Artist Of The USSR
People's Artist of the USSR, also sometimes translated as National Artist of the USSR, was an honorary title granted to artists of the Soviet Union. The term is confusingly used to translate two Russian language titles: Народный артист СССР (''Narodny artist SSSR''), awarded in performing arts and Народный художник СССР (''Narodny khudozhnik SSSR''), granted in some visual arts. As those titles were granted by the government, honorees were afforded certain privileges and would often receive commissions from the Minister of Culture of the Soviet Union. Accordingly, artists and authors who expressed criticism of the Communist Party were seldom granted such recognition, if not outright censored. Ukrainian Opera Singers
This is a list of opera singers from Ukraine, Soviet Union and Russian Empire, including ethnic Ukrainians and people of other ethnicities. This list includes those who were born in Ukraine/Soviet Union/Poland but later emigrated, and those, who were born elsewhere but immigrated to the country and performed there for a long time. Opera came to the Russian Empire in the 18th century. At first there were mostly Italian-language operas presented by Italian opera troupes. Later some Ukrainian composers serving to the Russian Imperial Court such as Dmitry Bortniansky and Maksym Berezovsky began to write operas in French and Italian. Composers in the 19th century included Semen Hulak-Artemovsky, Mykola Lysenko, and Mykhailo Verbytsky.
