"Behind the Wheel" is a song by the English electronic music band Depeche Mode from their sixth studio album, ''Music for the Masses'' (1987). It was released on 28 December 1987 as the album's third single, reaching number 21 in the United Kingdom, number six in both Switzerland and West Germany, also entering the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 as its predecessors. "Route 66" A cover version of the Bobby Troup song "(Get Your Kicks on) Route 66" features on the single as a B-side. Martin Gore states that he chose the song because he "thought it would be a good idea to record a driving song on the B-side of 'Behind the Wheel'". It was remixed by the Beatmasters and was made up from elements of "Behind the Wheel". Critical reception ''Cash Box'' called it a "dark, European funk tune for those who dance with a touch of sadness" that is "very strange, yet appealing." Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode are an English electronic music, electronic band formed in Basildon, Essex in 1980. Originally formed with the line-up of Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andy Fletcher (musician), Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke, the band currently consists of Gahan and Gore. With Clarke as their primary songwriter, Depeche Mode released their debut album ''Speak & Spell (album), Speak & Spell'' in 1981 amid the British New wave music, new wave scene. ''Strange – A Black and White Mode by Anton Corbijn'' is the second music video compilation by the English electronic music band Depeche Mode, featuring the first five Depeche Mode videos directed by Anton Corbijn, released in 1988. Corbijn shot the entire video album in Super 8. The five videos are mostly in black and white, except for some random megaphones that were colored red. The compilation includes the three main singles for ''Music for the Masses'', the final ''Black Celebration'' single "A Question of Time", and "Pimpf", the instrumental closer to ''Music for the Masses''. Robert "Shep" Pettibone (born 10 July 1959) is an American record producer, remixer, songwriter and club DJ, one of the most prolific of the 1980s. Career Shep Pettibone surfaced after his work with Arthur Baker on Afrika Bambaataa & the Jazzy 5's "Jazzy Sensation" and as an in-house mix engineer for Prelude Records. During his recording career, he launched innovative "mastermixes" for New York's KISS FM. The popularity of these mixes persuaded Prelude Records to release some of them commercially. Pettibone built his brand through his personal approach to remixing tracks, specially crafted for the dancefloor. Acclaimed by DJs worldwide, he was the go-to man to achieve club and chart success. His prowess at production and mixing led him to work with such artists as Madonna and George Michael in the late 1980s during the height of these artists' popularity.
