Before The Aftermath (Evergrey Album)
Evergrey is a Swedish progressive metal band from Gothenburg. History Evergrey was formed in 1993 in Gothenburg by guitarist/vocalist Tom S. Englund as a progressive power metal band, in contrast to the melodic death metal that Gothenburg is known for. Since then, the band's lyrics have always been of the darker sort, and the same can be said of the band's imagery. After finding a stable lineup, ''The Dark Discovery'' was recorded in 1996 and released in 1998, and ''Solitude, Dominance, Tragedy'' was recorded and released in 1999. While those two albums dealt with a variety of ideas, ''In Search of Truth'' (2001) and ''Recreation Day'' (2003) are concept albums, the latter album dealing with issues such as contemplating suicide ("As I Lie Here Bleeding"), mourners after a funeral ("I'm Sorry", a cover of Dilba Demirbag's hit), and dying people looking back on their "unforgivable" sins ("Unforgivable"). Nevermore
Nevermore is an American Heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1992. The band was formed after three of its members — vocalist Warrel Dane, bassist Jim Sheppard and guitarist Jeff Loomis — ended their previous band Sanctuary (band), Sanctuary, and had several drummers before hiring Van Williams (musician), Van Williams in 1994. Nevermore has experienced numerous lineup changes, and as of 2024, Loomis is the only remaining original member. The band became a five-piece in 1996, when they added Pat O'Brien (guitarist), Pat O'Brien as their second guitarist. In Flames
In Flames is a Swedish Heavy metal music, heavy metal band, formed by guitarist Jesper Strömblad in Gothenburg in 1990 out of the Swedish death metal, Swedish death metal scene. Their lineup has changed several times, with vocalist Anders Fridén and guitarist Björn Gelotte being the only consistent members since 1995. Since the departure of Strömblad in 2010, no original members remain with the band. In Flames helped pioneer melodic death metal along with fellow Swedish bands At the Gates and Dark Tranquillity. Sziget Festival (, ) is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget ("Old Buda Island"), a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island on the Danube. More than 1,000 performances take place each year. Storsjöyran or just Yran (''literal meaning: The Great Lake Giddy Festival'') is an annual Swedish musical event going back to the early sixties. Festival history The festival was started in honor of the ancient can-do spirit of the people of Jämtland and to show the rest of Sweden that although this region is sparsely populated, its people have the zest, courage and knowledge to create a festival of international size and standard. Masters of Rock is a metal festival in Vizovice, Czech Republic. The main styles represented at this festival are power metal, speed metal, and heavy metal. In the past, the festival has featured bands such as Judas Priest, Motörhead, Slayer, Helloween, Uriah Heep, Manowar, Dream Theater, Nightwish, Accept, Anthrax, Sweet, Twisted Sister, Europe, HammerFall, Stratovarius, Gamma Ray, Rhapsody of Fire, Sabaton, Kreator, Edguy, Rage - also with symphonic orchestra, Tarja Turunen, Apocalyptica, Within Temptation, Children of Bodom, Avantasia, Sebastian Bach, Behemoth, Amon Amarth, and many more. Arvika Festival
Arvika Festival () was an annual music festival held in Arvika, Sweden. It took place during three days in the middle of July, from Thursday to Saturday, with camping available from the beginning of the week. The non-profit association "Galaxen" (Swedish for "The Galaxy") arranged the festival. Since the nineties, the festival had built up a tradition of booking many big synth bands. This was initially an unintended side effect: for the first festival in 1992 the arrangers had booked Cat Rapes Dog, Pouppée Fabrikk and S.P.O.C.K. and about 50% of the audience that showed up was actually mostly interested in these bands since no other festival booked many synth acts. Sweden Rock Festival is a rock festival outside the town of Sölvesborg in Blekinge in southern Sweden. The festival offers the best possible mix of classic rock, hard rock, metal, blues and related genres. The first version of the festival, known as Sommarfestivalen i Olofström, was held in Olofström in 1992. In 1993 the festival moved to Karlshamn, and changed its name to Karlshamn Rock Festival. In 1998, the festival moved to Norje, although the name Karlshamn Rock Festival was kept. In 1999 the name was changed to the Sweden Rock Festival.
