Beezy Bear
''Beezy Bear'' is a 1955 Disney animated short featuring Donald Duck, who appears as a beekeeper. This is Humphrey the Bear's fifth appearance. The cartoon portrays Humphrey as a honey-stealing bear. Plot While beekeeper Donald is working one morning, he catches Humphrey the bear raiding his hives in an attempt to steal some of the honey. The bees then chase Humphrey, forcing him to hide underwater in a nearby pond. Donald complains to Ranger Woodlore, who assembles his bears and informs them of Donald's predicament. Told that someone is stealing Mr. Duck's honey, the entire group expresses mock outrage. Humphrey, who is the last bear to arrive, is still dripping from being in the pond. When Woodlore asks him why he is always wet, and he responds by making body-washing gestures, Woodlore tells him that he bathes too much. Jack Hannah
John Frederick Hannah (January 5, 1913 – June 11, 1994) was an American animator, writer and director of animated shorts. Biography Hannah was born on January 5, 1913, in Nogales, Arizona. He moved to Los Angeles in 1931 to study at the Art Guild Academy. One of his first jobs was designing movie posters for Hollywood theaters. In 1933, during the Great Depression, Hannah dropped off his portfolio at Walt Disney Studios, and soon afterward was hired as an in-between and clean-up artist, working on Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Silly Symphony cartoons. Hannah's career as an animator commenced with the short '' Modern Inventions'' (released on May 29, 1937). After thirteen films in that capacity, he was assigned to the story department writing cartoon short continuities, beginning with ''Donald's Nephews'' (released on April 15, 1938). Humphrey The Bear
Humphrey the Bear is a cartoon character created in 1950 at Walt Disney Animation Studios. He first appeared in the 1950 Goofy cartoon ''Hold That Pose'', in which Goofy tried to take his picture. After that he appeared in four classic Donald Duck cartoons: '' Rugged Bear'' (1953), '' Grin and Bear It'' (1954), '' Bearly Asleep'' (1955), and ''Beezy Bear'' (1955). Disney gave him his own series in 1955, but only two films resulted ('' Hooked Bear'' and '' In the Bag'', both 1956) before Disney discontinued making theatrical short subjects. When the shorts division closed, Humphrey was the last of only seven Disney characters who had been given a series of their own, starring in cartoons who opened with their own logo (the six others were Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, Pluto, Chip 'n' Dale (counting as one), and Figaro). ''Hooked Bear'' is a 1956 short film in the '' Humphrey the Bear'' series. Plot Fishing season has begun and park ranger J. Audubon Woodlore goes out on the lake to check on the anglers. Humphrey the Bear is trying to catch some fish, but cannot seem to hold onto one once he catches it. Woodlore sees the fish disappearing before his eyes, so he decides to stock the lake with some more. As he heads to the fish hatchery, he sees Humphrey with a few fishing nets and rods, and asks him what he is doing. When the bear tells him that he is going to catch some fish, Woodlore takes the rods and nets and tells him to "Go fish like a bear!" At the hatchery, Woodlore selects an envelope of fish eggs from a collection of eggs. He fills a tub with water and inserts the eggs into it. In a matter of seconds, several fishes pop up out of the water like plants out of soil. ''Bearly Asleep'' is a 1955 CinemaScope Disney animated short featuring Donald Duck, who appears as a park ranger, with Humphrey the Bear. Plot After the park guests leave for the winter, Donald and the bears all wave goodbye, except for Humphrey, who is asleep on a hammock. He and all the bears reside in their cave for their winter hibernation, but Humphrey is being annoyingly loud. After getting a glass of water from Donald's house, he is just about to go inside when Humphrey yells, "OW! Humphrey pinched me!" That angers Donald, as he goes home complaining about all the fuss that Humphrey has given him. Later, Humphrey is kicked out for his loud snoring. ''Grin and Bear It'' is a 1954 Disney animated short featuring Donald Duck, It is the third appearance of Humphrey the Bear, and marks the debut of Ranger J. Audubon Woodlore. Plot Donald Duck is on his way to Brownstone National Park to have "fun, fun, fun". Meanwhile, the park ranger gathers all the bears and assigns each of them to associate with a park visitor; any bear who commits a crime in the park will suffer "the supreme penalty" (i.e., being executed and made into a bearskin rug). When all the bears pick their visitor, Humphrey is stuck with Donald. At first, he attempts to earn some of Donald's food by dancing but to no avail. He does earn Donald's attention when helping him set up his picnic and assorting his sandwiches for him, but goes unrewarded. ''Rugged Bear'' is a 1953 American animated short film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by RKO Radio Pictures.
