Beet
The beetroot (British English) or beet (North American English) is the taproot portion of a '' Beta vulgaris'' subsp. ''vulgaris'' plant in the Conditiva Group. The plant is a root vegetable also known as the table beet, garden beet, dinner beet, or else categorized by color: red beet or golden beet. It is also a leaf vegetable called beet greens. Beetroot can be eaten raw, roasted, steamed, or boiled. Beetroot can also be canned, either whole or cut up, and often are pickled, spiced, or served in a sweet-and-sour sauce. It is one of several cultivated varieties of ''Beta vulgaris'' subsp. ''vulgaris'' grown for their edible taproots or leaves, classified as belonging to the Conditiva Group. Other cultivars of the same subspecies include the sugar beet, the leaf vegetable known as spinach beet (Swiss chard), and the fodder crop mangelwurzel. Gordon Beet
Gordon Albert Beet (5 May 1939 – 19 January 1994) was an English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Derbyshire County Cricket Club between 1956 and 1961. Beet was born at Heanor, Derbyshire. He started representing Derbyshire in the Minor Counties Championship in 1955, and played most of his matches for the second XI. He made two first-class appearances for Derbyshire in the 1956 season with his debut against Kent when he made 4 runs in the only innings he played. His next first-class appearance was in a single match in the 1958 season. Three years later in the 1961 season, he played in two County Championship games and a match against Oxford University. Beet was a right-handed batsman and played seven innings in six first-class matches with an average of 7.20 and a top score of 17. Harry Churchill Beet
Harry Churchill Beet VC (1 April 1873 – 10 January 1946) was an English recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Beet was 27 years old, and a corporal in the 1st Battalion, Derbyshire Regiment, British Army during the Second Boer War when the following deed took place on 22 April 1900 at Wakkerstroom, South Africa, for which he was awarded the VC: He stayed in South Africa until after the war had ended in June 1902, and returned to the United Kingdom on the SS ''Syria'' in September that year. On his return to his hometown Long Eaton, Derbyshire, his townsmen gave him what was reported as a ″great reception″. He later achieved the rank of captain. Peter Leslie Beet (17 February 1937 – 28 October 2005) was an English general practitioner notable for his pioneering work in the preservation of steam locomotives. Early years and education Raised in Kendal on the edge of the Lake District, close to the London, Midland and Scottish Railway's West Coast Main Line, he was educated in Harrogate, close to the London and North Eastern Railway's East Coast Main Line. He attended medical school in Leeds, where on the weekends he would visit Tebay and its engine shed, with staff letting him clean and prepare locomotives. After graduation he became a general practitioner in Morecambe, Lancashire, in 1964. Beethoven Algar (28 May 1894 – 28 November 1989), commonly known as Beet, was a New Zealand rugby union player. A back who played in any position from first five-eighth to wing, Algar represented Wellington at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1920 and 1921. He played six matches for the All Blacks, including one as captain, but did not appear in any internationals. Following the death of Bill Francis in 1981, Algar was the oldest living All Black. Beet The Vandel Buster
is a Japanese manga series written by Riku Sanjo and illustrated by Koji Inada. The manga ran in Shueisha's ''Monthly Shōnen Jump'' from 2002 to 2006. After a nearly ten-year hiatus, the series resumed in '' Jump SQ.Crown'' in 2016, before entering a short-term hiatus. It has been serialized in '' Jump SQ.Rise'' since 2018. 18 volumes volumes have been released as of October 2024. In North America, Viz Media licensed the manga for English release and published its first twelve volumes between 2004 and 2007. The series takes place in a fantasy world where humans have been suffering from the attacks of the demon-like Vandels. 4 (four) is a number, numeral and digit. It is the natural number following 3 and preceding 5. It is a square number, the smallest semiprime and composite number, and is considered unlucky in many East Asian cultures. Evolution of the Hindu-Arabic digit Brahmic numerals represented 1, 2, and 3 with as many lines. 4 was simplified by joining its four lines into a cross that looks like the modern plus sign. The Shunga would add a horizontal line on top of the digit, and the Kshatrapa and Pallava evolved the digit to a point where the speed of writing was a secondary concern.
