Belikin is the leading domestically produced beer brand in Belize. Name Origin The root of the name “Belikin” dates to the ancient Maya Classical Period and is an amalgamation of several Mayan words with the meaning either ‘road to the east’ or ‘road to the burning sun.’ Both meanings refer to the eastward expansion of the Maya toward Belize. Many believe that the ancient Maya called this land Belikin. ''Imperial'' (Cerveza Imperial) is a Costa Rican lager, manufactured by the Florida Ice & Farm Company (FIFCO). Imperial was first produced by the Ortega brewery in 1924 by Carl Walter Steinvorth, an important businessman & the first orthodontist in Central America. Spin-offs from the original Imperial include ''Imperial Light'', ''Imperial Silver'' and ''Imperial Ultra''.
