Beef (band)
Beef was a Dutch band. While generally classified as reggae music, reggae, their music combined many different styles. History Beef was formed out of an underground radio show called "The Chop Shop" in 1999. Their early recordings, released only on cassettes (the 1.1Gr.Fm Sessions), have become Collectable, collector items. The same holds for the 10 inch EP release ''Babylon by Beef'' (Drunken Maria, 1999). After the first full studio album, entitled ''Flexodus'' (Partners in Crime, 1999), record company PIAS Recordings, PIAS picked up on the buzz, signed the band and had them record their self-titled second album in England. Under productional leadership of singer Bitty McLean, "Beef!" was created. "Late Night Sessions", the first single from the album, became a big hit. Jacqueline Govaert
Jacqueline Govaert (; born 20 April 1982) is a Dutch singer, songwriter, and pianist. She is best known as the leader of Dutch band Krezip. After Krezip disbanded in 2009, Govaert started a solo music career. She released her debut album ''Good Life'' in August 2010. Career Krezip Govaert wrote her first songs on the piano at age 12. She graduated from the Dutch Fontys Rockacademie, Rockacademy in Tilburg. Prior to that, she had started the band Krezip in high school. The band released their first Extended play, EP in 1999; it was an independent release. In 2000, the band was signed by Warner Music and played at Lowlands (festival), Lowlands and Pinkpop. Krezip
Krezip is a Dutch pop rock band from Tilburg, North Brabant, formed in 1997. The band was formed while its members were in high school and has had four consistent core members, centered around lead singer and songwriter Jacqueline Govaert. Signed to Warner Music, the band's breakout single "I Would Stay" was a number-one hit on the Dutch Top 40 and the third-biggest song of 2000. Their performance at the nationally-televised 2000 Pinkpop Festival, when Govaert was 18 years old, helped earn the band significant media attention. In 2008, the band announced an imminent breakup. Their final single, "Sweet Goodbyes", reached number two on the Dutch Top 40 and was named the second-biggest song of 2009. Control Arms
The Control Arms Campaign is jointly run by a coalition of over 100 organisations including Amnesty International, IANSA, Oxfam International and Saferworld. The campaign has been active since 2003 in calling for an international Arms Trade Treaty (ATT). The campaign began due to the lack of regulation in the international trade in arms. Control Arms has argued that the lack of controls on the arms trade is fuelling armed conflict, poverty and human rights abuses worldwide. Urban Dance Squad was a Dutch rap rock band formed after what was originally intended as a one-time jam-session at a festival in Utrecht on December 20, 1986. The band consisted of a guitarist, bassist, drummer, rapper, and DJ. Urban Dance Squad was one of the most successful Dutch bands of the nineties, releasing five studio albums. Zilveren Harp
The Zilveren Harp (Silver Harp) was a Dutch award given annually to promising musical talent. The award is very prestigious and winners were chosen by a different jury each year. The Zilveren Harp was given by the foundation " Buma Cultuur", which aims to promote Dutch music. The award was given in 1969-2011; except for the year 1972. Buma Cultuur also presents the Gouden Harp award, which is given to an artist for his entire oeuvre and Buma Export Award for acts which are successful abroad.
