Becoming Nancy (musical)
''Becoming Nancy'' is a musical with a book by Elliot Davis, music by George Stiles and lyrics by Anthony Drewe. It is based on the 2011 debut novel of the same name by composer Terry Ronald. The musical received mixed reviews from critics during the run in Atlanta. Synopsis The musical is a coming-of-age story set in the south east suburb of East Dulwich, London in 1979 about a school boy, David Starr, who is cast as Nancy in a school production of the musical ''Oliver!'' Production history The musical made its world premiere at the Alliance Theatre, Atlanta, Georgia from September 6 to October 6, 2019. George Stiles (composer)
George William Stiles (born 9 August 1961) is an English composer of musicals for the stage. Education From 1974 to 1979, he was educated at Gresham's School in Norfolk. Stiles studied music at Exeter University, where he met his writing partner Anthony Drewe. He graduated in 1983. Collaboration with Anthony Drewe For more than 30 years, Stiles has worked with the lyricist Anthony Drewe. Together they have written eleven shows (see below). Projects currently in development include: ''Soap Dish''; an adaptation of Graham Greene's ''Travels with My Aunt''; and a new project with the director and choreographer Jerry Mitchell. Tutankhamun ''Tutankhamun'' was first performed at the Northcott Theatre and Imagination Buildings in 1984. David Rockwell
David Rockwell (born July 25, 1956) is an American architect and designer. He is the founder and president of Rockwell Group, a 250-person cross-disciplinary architecture and design practice based in New York City with satellite offices in Madrid and Los Angeles. Early life and education Rockwell grew up in a theater family. His mother, a vaudeville dancer and choreographer, often cast him in community repertory productions. When he was 12, David's family moved from Deal, New Jersey to Guadalajara, Mexico. Rockwell trained in architecture at Syracuse University and the Architectural Association in London. Sally Ann Triplett (born 15 April 1962, London, England) is a British singer and actress. She participated in two editions of the Eurovision Song Contest and West End productions. Career Triplett first represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 as the lead female vocals of the six-piece band Prima Donna. Prima Donna finished third with their pop-ballad "Love Enough for Two" but the song was a flop in the charts, and the group disbanded after their second single. Deborah Ann Harry (born Angela Trimble; July 1, 1945) is an American singer, songwriter and actress, best known as the lead vocalist of the band Blondie. Stephen Ashfield is an Olivier Award-winning Scottish actor. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and since graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music in London, he has enjoyed a successful stage career. Jerry Mitchell is an American theatre director and choreographer. Early life and education Born in Paw Paw, Michigan, Mitchell later moved to St. Louis where he pursued his acting, dancing and directing career in theatre. Although he did not graduate from the Fine Arts college at Webster University in St. Louis after attending for a year, he later received an honorary degree from Webster University in 2005.
